Directing/improving guest traffic

Is there any way to entice or improve guest traffic to a certain area? I have recently built a new branch of rides within my park, however the path that connects the main bit of the park and my new section is not having many people cross it, leaving me with about 3 coasters, 2 rides and a bunch of shops that are not being used. Any advice on this?

If the path is too long they'll turn around and leave, benches should help if that's the problem, things to do on the way also. Otherwise make a transport ride; if it doesn't fit with your theme, build it in a ditch then bury it.
