The explanation is quite simple: Tropico 5 supports the Polish language, Tropico 6 does not.
To be honest, I would have been very happy to have Tropico in class. We think it's great and it was a pleasure to work on it with them.

pls gently push all south american (my home) schools to play "tropico 1" for 2 hours minimum a week as a requirement to graduate, just pay off the presidentes with some offshore stuff, easy

Wow, this is really cool! Tropico is a great "manage a country" simulator, and there's no other game that can beat Tropico until now for that genre. So of course the professors made an excellent choice!

I see this was Tropico 5. I've only played Tropico 6. What are the major differences between 5 and 6?

Take this tip on Tropico 5: If you want people to NOT BECOME COMUNISTS, you have to give full resources to education and pay most to College level jobs. It's a fact. To fight comunism, you have to EDUCATE people and pay them more the higher studies level they have.
