Eco-Protests (consequence for failing Environmentalist ultimatum) are bugged
Hi team,

Thanks for your prompt responses to my previous posts. While playing Tropico 6 today I found another bug that I suspect may have already been reported, as I have seen it mentioned online before. Essentially if the player 'fails' the Environmentalist ultimatum, they are told that there will be a massive wave of protests hitting power plants, industrial buildings, mines, etc etc. Unfortunately when this occurred in my save game, the consequences of my actions were so laughably minor that I don't think anyone needs to take the Environmentalists seriously in this game!

Despite having 200+ members, more than a dozen industrial buildings, 7 golf courses, mines, multiple power plants etc I only encountered a grand total of 3 protests over the year's revolt. Now this might sound like a consequence of failure to be avoided, BUT the protests themselves disappeared within a second of occurring. I literally paused the game as soon as the "Protest has started" icons started appearing, clicked on them to force the camera to focus but there was nothing there. Zero out of 3 protests actually materialised, then no further protests or problems occurred.

I can only assume this is a bug as the other factions actually have serious consequences for pissing them off (Coup attempt which turns half your soldiers against you, financial crisis that halves your income and doubles your costs, anethemia that causes EVERYONE who tops up their faith happiness to lose support for Presidente etc).

My assumption is that this is due to the somewhat lacking implementation of protests in Tropico 6 as of the present build, which are vanishingly rare. In 60 hours (between release + beta) I've encountered around 6 or one every 10 hours. This may also be why the "bribe/arrest" 50 protests achievement is locked at 0%

The way protests work is 1 person starts it, then as time goes on people join it.

They do work, I got 7 more out of 50 last night for the achievement. I simply did a sandbox without making any religious buildings.

My guess is you are doing something policy wise that is making that citizen go away before more show up. Like maybe an edict in that factions favor increasing relations just enough to erase the protest.

The other thing is people belong to multiple factions. So that could be why nobody shows up.

Also the protest achievement requires you to bribe or use the military, so promising to raise the happiness does not count.
