Disk write error with new patch???
Getting disk write error when trying to patch to new version ... Pls fix

Hey,
Have you tried restarting your Steam Client and clearing the Download Cache already?
If that doesn't solve the issue, please send a message to our support at support@kalypsomedia.com with a description of the issue, so they can investigate for you!

I had to reinstall the game for it to work, so annoying
Disk write error has something to do with your old harddisk..... I would buy a new one soon, unless you want to loose all your data

It's a new disk (Less than 1y), never had issues with Tropico or any other game before :( 4TB samsung SSD.

@kaarl, I must re-install the game every time I want to play after shutting down. Same issue (Disk write error with an update pending when I close and re-open the game) .. I will email your support.

That really sounds like a hardware failure

You wouldn't be the only person having this issue if the game was the problem, it doesn't matter how new the drive is, something can still be wrong with a few sectors and causing corrupt files

It was a permissions problem with the Steam directory for me. I have the game installed on another drive (internal SSD) and ran the Steam program with Administrative permissions and it downloaded and installed the patch.

I then changed the user permissions on the SteamLibrary folder for my User Account to full control even though I am an administrator. You may have the same problem.

Hi, i have the same problem. Since the new patch is on, i can't save my games, i have a message "backup failed" every time i try to save.

Please also contact our support at support@kalypsomedia.com with a description of the issue and a DxDiag.txt attached, so they can investigate for you!
To create a DxDiag.txt, please do the following:
  • Click "Start" button and choose "Run". Or alternatively, press (Windows-Button)+R
  • Then type "dxdiag" (without quotation marks) and click “OK”
  • Click the "Save all Information"-button, located at the bottom of the program window
  • Save the file as "dxdiag.txt”
  • Attach the file "dxdiag.txt" to your email to support@kalypsomedia.com

Get this error all the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ time. Fix it. Its deff a permissions issue with steam or the game.

every time the game starts windows 11 blocks the game trying to modify files. Anytime you click save or launch the game you get this message.

@Kaarl, I figured out why disk write error. AV is catching the .exe as a Generic.IDP virus. Your code is messed up since the new update and is being flagged as a virus.

The code could be 100% fine and safe an still get false flagged, common issue with AV software, usually resolved quite fast but some of them drag their feet.
