And as this has been going on for 10 years, there is no excuse for Kalypso.
They know and the dont care.
I see it as a personal attack on me and will try to spread it as much as i possibly can.
Never the less, this has been going on for years and Kalypso had a lot of time to do soemthing about it.
I didnt ignore legal threats and had to protect myself agaisnt the offchance of Nimrod following up on their claims.
Suprised by the amount of people willing to ignore legal threats, its not about being right or having "done nothing wrong", if you dont defent yourself you lose.
It's that other people understand the difference between a legitimate legal threat, and a pretty obvious scam (you mentioned that you never, ever even heard of the game they claim you stole - that's should have been a *huge* indication that the "lawyer" who contacted you wasn't actually a real human being.)
Perhaps it would have been fine to ignore in another country, but here things dont usually work out in your favor if you ignore something.
Did they ask you to pay with gift cards? That prince of XYZ country asking to be paid in gift cards sure sounded legit.
Have you ever stepped foot in Germany or had any interaction with Germany? You think there law has any bearing on a US citizen?
What have or can you ignore in the US? A summons that was handed directly to you? A court case that was due to a ticket or jail time?
Interesting to see how such scams actually work on people.
I can't imagine it's very common for some strange citizen, falsely claiming to be a lawyer, to sue another individual for an imaginary crime.
