probably because lan parties where when internet was slow and multi had not matured yet then. i say it still has its bonuses and applicable situations but mostly its a thing of the past for the most part.

Believe me, you can play the game via LAN. Because it's P2P. They have walled this via internet check to their security server and the intention is to prevent piracy. I COULD play via LAN if I'd crack the game accordingly (there are even tutorials out there to do so), however I've proven that I want to support the developer with my two copies of Tropico 6 with all DLCs for my girl and me.

It's just a stupid hinderance and I beg them to remove this...

Because even if we have fast internet lan is still going to be even faster - and chances are if your living with your "lan party" (or at least mates) you are less likely to want to rage punch them? - and if your mate is being a dcik you can go punch them, - its something high speed internet can't perfect (yet)

It's also a lot more stable for CPU intensive connections; there are less sync errors and Tropico IS a Lan game in it's core (remember when we couldn't save multiplayer?) and I could swear that we were able to do so before. But they are lazy, I guess. Because I don't see any reason why we should be able to share our seed via the workshop for a map but can't randomize a map in multiplayer oO

right or wrong it does seem to be the trend. it is not that common to find local area networking support it not just this company. just because you don't have technically a lan party does not mean you cant have get togethers with some online play.

Still, they only barrier LAN functionality because of piracy. The game uses Peer to peer connection; LAN IS P2P. They just want you to have a constant internet connection to their security servers so they can be sure you haven't cracked your game.

there is no required internet connection to play only online does obviously. if they where going to do that to implement anti piracy they would require online to play in total. single player only games have even done this.

i can see the argument for your lan gaming to prevent one house hold or establishment from having one copy and getting cracks or whatever for each pc on the line. your more passing pirates i guess. so i guess they are protecting networked play only? or just protecting one reason to pirate i don't know their reasoning one way or the other in regard to that if so.
