Can anyone explain how the map / climate system works
So I've got two questions if anyone is able to answer them;

First one is how does the map-seed generator work? I want to get a large flat-map space but even typing in something like seed : 0000000000 doesn't give me a flat map but I've tried randomly generating about 30 times now and the map shapes are just... freaking bizarre

Second question is; how the heck does climate-variation work? I set the map to very-wet and the island just has hundreds of "dead patches" with no plants/tree's or anything, then I set it to normal and the island is -covered- in lush green tree's... So what exactly is the point of wet to very wet? Does it increase soil fertility or something?

If you want flat, turn off plateau.

Not sure what you mean by "dead patches" as there's intentionally grasslands between forests, it's not going to be 100% tree coverage, if you want less variation in climate there's a setting right there for climate variation, and yes it effects what crops grow best in each area, just like the overlay would show when deciding where to place a plantation. If you don't have climate variety you won't have good places for certain crop types

It's extremely easy to get a large flat island if you just read your options in game

Well I want flat in the sense that I want a large flat land-mass, I keep getting islands which are messy with disjointed shorelines and weird shapes and as for the dead-patches I mean literally theres just huge black patches of dirt with nothing growing, it's weird.
