Game Pricing and Sales

Hey all,

So I've been a fan of Tropico since 3 and even though 4 was almost identical I still wanted in on 5. The problem was the pricing... For whatever reason 5 saw a big jump in pricing and if there were any good discount sales on 5, I never saw them! Now we have 6 out and it has been out for a year and some already but the base game is still priced at $50. This just puts it clear out of the pricing bracket I'll consider again, especially if the trend of no good sales continues with 6. This is pricing on par with big budget game releases with massive hype and advertising campaigns and Tropico is relatively niche.

While I could moan about the pricing and demand price reductions, I'm not going to. I'm sure you can figure out how I feel about the pricing; my usual budget for games is around $30 if I'm really eager to get a title, very rarely higher. What I would like to know is if Tropico 6 is ever likely to go on sale for a price I'll feel more comfortable playing. I was sad to miss out on 5, I'd be quite happy if Kalypso helped me enjoy 6!

So TL;DR: Is Tropico 6 likely to see any good discount sales?

Hi Izz,
you recently missed the Tropico Franchise sale, including Tropico 6.
Best would be putting the game on your wishlist, as you will be notified by steam, if there is any sale. ;)

Learn to use wishlist to stay informed on sales, 5 has been very cheap many times and often bundled with all the DLC as well

Highest discount it has ever had is 40% off according to steamdb. Wait for it to get fixed tho, I stopped playing and won't play again till there's a new update.

what do you mean by that?
Before spreading the news and recommending new players to wait for an update to get it fixed, you should better start with sharing the problem with us in order to get this sorted and fixed ;)

Hi, I've already reported and commented all the issues I found in bug reports a while ago, I'm just waiting for a new update since I want to play w/o those issues around.

There should have been a Spring sale, but for whatever reason STEAM let that go by. A Summer sale ought to be in a month or two, and I'd expect 6 to be back at 40-50% off or so. I haven't been watching 5, but likely the savings will be a similar percentage.

I also recommend Surviving Mars, which to me is more or less Tropico In Space. That game + DLC goes on deep sale, and I feel it's a good game to play.

Thanks for the comments, I'll be sure to keep it on my wishlist. I already have Surviving Mars, I like it but it does have a different feel to Tropico
