Other than to say I got one and ONLY batch of tourists, then afterward no more either. All my hotels and cabins, and night-clubs, restaurants sits empty. It's like they all came and decided, "I'm never coming back to this dump of an island ever again!"
Yeah exactly... I got a single batch of tourists who are living in a single hotel. And that's it. Nobody comes anymore, nobody leaves.
acutally didn't check... Since money is no concern, as soon as you got enough industry running... Will do later and keep you updated... Though I think that tourism usually yields the most profit by tourists who use entertainment buildings... That's how it worked in past Tropicos.
Something that may have been the problem was the fact that my industry island had caused pollution to bleed over onto the nearby islands, which is where my tourism was. Some of the islands much further away had no pollution, and thus high beauty but the nearby islands were very low beauty, even when spammed with parks. It seemed that the islands further away (with high beauty) had an easier time attracting tourists once I spammed them with a bunch of tourist buildings.
I did put some modern apartments down nearby, but I made sure to drop garbage treatment plants (or whatever they are called) to keep them from polluting the area.
I don't know exactly what lead to the problem, but it could have been the pollution buildup around the airports which then got them "stuck" in a bad state that broke tourism, or it could have been unrelated to the pollution problem and the airport was just "stuck". Either way, bulldozing airports and rebuilding fixed it this time around.
-Have a decent economic base to afford purchases and upgrades
-Build a lot [A LOT] of Fun Fair Piers and Cabarets (Burlesque mode) and crank their efficiency meter to max
-Have your Cyber Sec office constantly creating fake reviews
-Have your Commando Garrison constantly intimidating neighbors
-Build more accommodation buildings
-Build more fun/luxury/tourist buildings and max their efficiencies (be sure to have some spread out too, not concentrated in 1 or 2 locations)
-Decrease pollution and increase beauty if possible
-Every time you complete a task that offers a Tourist-centric reward; take it over the cash.
It's not just about the 'amount' of buildings but the quality of them too. Pay attention to the service quality metrics for buildings and lean into the ones that are naturally very high (such as the Pier and Cabaret). You'll also want to have multiple ways for tourists to arrive (1 Airport is enough but place some more Tourist Docks too).
This can get really expensive to set up but luckily you can 'cheese it' by going deep into debt once you've set up the foundation.
