Purpose of alliances?
I'm wondering what's the point of alliances in this game? As despite having one, I've still been attacked by other foreign powers and later got the defeat screen.

In the past they used to prevent foreign invasions/attacks or send you allied assistance in the later releases of the Tropico games. But here none of these features were present in my games. Anyone know what the point of doing them is after the obligatory time to age up?

No idea what the purpose of them is in modern times (besides the fact that, the one time i did a modern times alliance it steadily ticked up the influence with that faction), but I think their main use is for aging up during the earlier ages anyways.

I guess past that you can use it to get tick relations with one particular power. But other than that, no use.

It might come in handy just before doing a heist in the Modern Era. You can take a pretty big standings hit with a Super Power after that. I had the Registan of Samarkand that for some reason I had never bothered to build. After I built that in the Modern Era, the Middle East sent me two ultimatums. Perhaps if I had had an alliance with them I could have avoided that.

When you are allied with someone you can request financial aid at no relationship penalty. You unfortunately have to remember to do this on a yearly or biyearly basis to get value from it. A Nation also offers more lucrative trade deals based on your relationship.

Ah, that makes sense. Thanks.

The purpose? One less superpower to attack you, It's an unfleshed out feature that needs "work after release".

I don't know about your game but my game I'm constantly worsening my relations with my alliance partner. I have to actively use options to improve it else my rating with my alliance partner continues to drop.

The superpower relations don't decrease anymore when you ask for financial aid if the standing is higher than 100! Plus it grants you all the positive bonuses Seisho posted above :tropicanstar:

I got invaded for by the Allies for having an alliance with the Axis. So i guess, yeah.

I was somehow Allied with the Allies, and yet the Axis still invaded me with no help from the Allies whatsoever. Really ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ annoying to have an Alliance with someone who just doesnt do anything a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ allied power would do to help you. Great way to end a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game you've spent hours on. Oh, dear, your invaded, game over, ♥♥♥♥ you. Not really enjoying this game now . . .

So why doesnt your ally do anything when your enemy invades you? Why the instant game over if you piss off the other guy? I followed the guidelines in game and it End Gamed me. Not ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ happy about that.
