How many teamsters do I actually need?
I've been having trouble with my economy in this game (but in the others i've been absolutely fine), I've been reading around and people are saying that you should have a teamster building for each industry you have set up, does this include the upgrade that allows an additional 6 workers? And when they say industry, do you mean as in say.. I have 4 Loggers and 2 Lumber Mills, so one teamster for that. I then build 2 Sugar plantations and 1 rum distillery, a teamster for that, and so on?

I do 2 teamsters (workers) per industry/production/storage building.

A teamster building is either 6 or 12 workers, do the math as needed (and of course assuming it is actually staffed and the workers are capable of being at work a reasonable amount of time ~ if you are understaffed or your workers have too far to travel, they won't be working and do nothing for your economy)

4 plantations, 1 factory and a dock is 6 production/industry/storage places that need things moved around, 12 teamster workers, so either 2 teamster buildings (of 6) or 1 upgraded (12) assuming fully staffed and optimal placement so that workers are actually at work a significant portion of the year.

An extra teamster building beyond your estimate can act as cushion or to make up for poor placement and long travel times, it's really on you to understand your own needs based on your layouts

Darn, and I've been building 1 teamster per mine, per factory, per farm, per ranch, per dock.
No wonder by Cold War I'm going down $36k per month despite having fully functioning industries of vehicle, weapon, jewelry, and cigar productions (6 of each).

the rule of thumb i use is generally not how much per buildings etc cause shifts distance from work etc alot play a role if i notice my buildings outputs are full thats bad if i notice a building say a cigar factory has a output of 3000 for example and its sitting above 1000 i will place more teamsters, if i see a building with more then 1/3 of storage in its output i build more teamsters. ive been financially ruined in the past due to lack of teamsters so yeah what others say may work as well thats there way of doing it i like my way :) also i upgrade all of them and teamster ports get upgraded as well. sometimes to save drives ill put landings or teamster ports if they are very far away but nearby to the mine cause its much quicker for them to travel water then roads

Yea the mechanics are a bit strange because on a recent sandbox, I tried to make less teamsters and generally speaking, all the production facilities had 100-200 resources in output stock ready for export, yet I wasn't making much money.

So I had to build more teamsters, then for every teamster I built, I noticed a rapid increase in revenue until I became comfortably wealthy.

My calculations are way off from everyone else because I cram as many Mines and Oil Rigs on deposits as will fit. I provide ONE Teamster Office for each of those clusters. For other businesses, I zoom in and place a Teamster Office, figuring it will service all the businesses within a 2" radius.

My general rule of thumb is that you can never have too many Teamster Offices.

Yea same here - I always cram oil deposits 100%, but for mines I do 75% only so as to preserve and lengthen the deposit's lifespan. However, I used to use 1 teamster per mine, then I lowered it to 1 teamster per 2 mines - and that's a bit too much so now I'm working on 1 per 3 mines, and so on...

Well.. i always do 1 Teamster for 100 Population .. 700 People = 7 Teamster. I know people will contradict me .. But for me it Works fine ..

I think it is also related to how you build your roads - myself, I always make LOTS of roads and have them set up neatly with multiple paths going to and from just to prevent traffic - this maybe wrong, but I haven't tried any other way.

You want your industry chain to operate around the clock, 2 trucks per production building. A teamster can have 6 or 12 trucks (upgraded).

There are factors mentioned here that affects this. A big one is how long it takes an employee to get to work. A good road network and 'Free Wheels' edict does the trick if you're experiencing delays in logistics.
