Best Transportation?
I read that Parking Garages are bugged - that metro systems take way too long and get even longer the more stations you have and I'm finding that busses are just kind of strange (only two stops?)

Is there a good method for transportation? I want to make large housing hubs far from industrial areas but it seems like I gotta just build everything next to everything so people can walk instead.

It is going to be a challenge building a residential zone far from industrial areas. Tropicians like to live close to work and other services, with work being the highest priority. So, they would probably just not moving in to your housing and build shacks close to work. Buses are probably your best bet, but even they can get bugged when your bus driver is waiting at the bus stop to get to work - but the bus never comes because there are not any bus drivers at work. I modded the bus depot so that it has 8 workers so that I almost always have two buses running between the two stops and sort of a buffer to make sure someone shows up to work

The approach I have taken is just to build little self sufficient villages or company towns close to work with buses going to a central hub with hospitals, clinics, entertainment, food and religion.

I always do it like this:
Build small industrial area, set up a living area next to it, reapeat. That way, my citizens can live near their workplace, but it still looks good and they will not get harmed by pollution. Then I build a metro as much in the middle of the living areas as possible and set budet always to max. I am not sure if my observation is true, but I think that the metro is pretty fast if you set it to max.
