How many plantations/ranches per industry?
Hi all,

Newbie here to Tropico 6 (well experienced in Tropico 5). How many plantations should I build to supply each industry building?

For example, if I have one Rum Distillery how many sugar plantations do I need?

And many cattle ranches to supply a Tannery?

And how many general food plantations e.g. corn, bananas etc?

I can't seem to get my economy/cash flow strong and regular. Any tips would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Two plantations to one industry is a good place to start, but that question is elusive in Tropico 6 because of all the work modes and upgrades, not to mention labor issues. Try placing all nine types of plantations and set them all to multiculture. At the beginning add at least one more sugar plantation to get a rum distillery or two up and running. If well placed, two logging camps should keep your lumber mill stocked, but you might need three with the Give and Take work mode.

To be honest I usually do not even bother with the tannery unless the Crown demands it and I need the mandate increase. One is not enough, I do know that.

When you get to the World Wars, add a tobacco plantation and build a cigar factory. Since you already have planks, put in the shipyard too. That alone can make you decent money if you watch you spending and population. I add in the immigration office early and set it to Tropicans First toggling it back and forth depending on labor demands. Once you reach say about $80,000 add a bank and than a second one when you can afford it. The idea is to keep the treasury above $50,000 to max out the bank's interest.

Despite people's insistence that boats are overpowered, rum is king early on in the game.
