There are dev level commands that supposedly are secret but some people have used them to cheat in game while a server full of people witnessed it being abused. The aim bots are also there. I tried to find cheats long ago to prove people were cheating and low and behold, there was always an updated hack for the game. We always found bot'ers and people using fairly intricate ways of trying to mask their cheating. We used to vote to ban people for cheating. Its why so many slipped through the cracks for so long. Not enough agreed despite proof later showing up on YT.
Long since past I have found Youtube videos showing people I met playing NS2 using cheats, that said they were not cheating despite people claiming these people were totally legit. I was past tense, even friends with a few that turned out to be cheats. Its why I unfriended them.
There are cheaters in every game if you look carefully enough. Saying they don't exist does not change reality. It just proves you cannot handle living in it.
That was one huge issue that crippled many of the games core audience over time. Then the lack of proper mod support that started late into the CDT lowered the count further.(killed 3 of the top servers and several smaller ones)
It was a great game. Maybe again someday.
Gorge tunnels were fine before, and I must be the 1% that can actually see a proper solution. The reason sneaky tunnels worked is because the marines weren't paying attention and being too aggressive. The tunnels can be moved back to gorges, but MACs should be able to scout like Drifters can, so that sneaky tunnels are less of an issue.
Why do I say this? Because Tunnels got ripped into but PG's didn't. The ONLY reason sneaky PG's work is if Aliens aren't paying attention, or there were no Drifter patrols. You can tell me "Oh, it requires power, and not cutting cysts." That is a flimsy response, and it's actually pretty easy to sneak past and build PGs. Tunnels worked the exact same way. it just needed a sneaky alien. MAC patrols (needed if Gorge Tunnels return) or Obs in Naturals (back lines) are all that were needed to stop the "overpowered rushes."
Long rant short, the devs really need to add the fun back to the game instead of making the teams the same besides color tags.
A PENALTY TO TREAT AS WRONG AN IDEA AS GOOD ..... A MOD AS GOOD AS IT WAS NATURAL SELECTION WITH HALF LIFE YEARS AGO ....
I think that really depends on your perspective and what you need to play. 200 players is plenty to have a handful full servers, so you can play, and new people can start playing.
In a MMO like WoW it would barely be anything though.
In my view "dead" would mean that noone plays it anymore, or so few people play it that you cannot really play it.
Though, the game is not looking good so far. They've watered it down, and made the game all about direct encounters instead of having fun elements.
The game might last longer if the developers add gimmicks or ideas to make the game fun again.
Pretty much. And the only players left are unwelcoming elitists who shun new players. Toxic community, really bad.
What makes you think it'll be larger? Sure, maybe a lot of people will buy it, but then a lot of people will drop out.
Unless they dumb down the gameplay a lot to "appeal to a broader audience" maybe, but then it becomes just another shooter.
