The Bus

The Bus

Needed optimisation for keys binding
Hi TML team,

after watching some review online I decided to buy the bus and after 30 minutes of trying, here are my thoughts.

I am using the budget gaming wheel PXN V900 (from china ofc) and to most other games, like Bus Simulator 18 or ETS2 it works just fine. But I can't seem to alter the key binding system with this game. Some buttons are recognized by the game but some others are not. For example I would like to change the key mapping of bus indicators from the gamepad shoulder buttons to the 4-arrow buttons comp (on the wheel/controller, underneath the left joystick on a controller to be exact), but the game wouldn't allow me to. Speaking of indicators, by default, left indactor is mapped to RIGHT shoulder and right indicator is mapped to LEFT...? I am confused but i did try to map it again, and the game did allow me to. However when backing out, it is still the same, i have to use right shoulder for left indicator. More, the game recognizes both my left and right triggers (brake and gas) as RIGHT trigger, so when I press down brake, the bus speeds up, a lot. Other mappings don't seem to work as well. I mapped horn to the B button, hazard warning to the L3 button (left joystick press), headlight to the comp same as the indicator i tried above... but none worked.

I was so excited when I bought this game and install but to me now the game is quite unplayable. Please consider fixing the problems, and allow players to customize their buttons freely, like ETS2 and the Bus Simulator series from Astra do.

Best!

Dont forget this is still EARLY ACCESS, theyre working on a lot of things. Adding support for, and you said it, a budget wheel from China is hardly a priority for them. Its true what they say, you get what you pay for.

I know, that's why I am reporting the bug without giving it low score rating.

I hope it will be controller support soon.

i can customize key bindings with my Logitech DrivingForce GT?
Dave May 13, 2021 @ 3:02am
I can also customize my XBox Wireless Controller, albeit I wish the game would recognize the button names like X,Y,A,B and RB, LB etc, instead of Front Facing Button Down (for A) its weird and unprofessional in this day and age. Fernbus used the same, horrible.

Menus and such probably just got taken over from fernbus as they did not need to create it completly New.

@topic just asking as i had no problems with changing Keys myself on my logitech g29.
Have you hit the apply button on the left side of the screen After changing the Keys?
If not then the changes are not saved which would explain why the bindings would be the same as before.

Hi all, thanks for replying, I did hit the Apply button, my wheel was recognized as "Gamepad" so this might be problem with controller support. I plugged my xbox 360 controller in and still I had the same problems. Now not that I cannot customize my bindings, but it's that I cannot fully customize the keys. ABXY keys are totally fine, however the comp on the left (I don't know what they are called) are not customizable at all...

Then it could be that gamepad support is not yet completely implemented.
At least somewhere on the roadmap https://trello.com/b/kGhFZOke/the-bus-early-access-roadmap
it says something of full controller support in phase 2 (for know) and it the wheel just simulates an x-input gamepad then it would be logical that it only gets recognized as one.
