Motorcycle racing... is it too hard?
Is it just me, or is the motorcycle racing nigh impossible? I'm using standard keyboard controls and a 21:9 monitor, but it never seems like I have A) enough speed or B) enough warning for a turn when I do get speed. Ramps are challenging as well because there is absolutely no way to gauge how much speed needs to be gained.
I have done well with other games with similar styles of racing, GTA (classic) being one. The best I've done here is 12th.
Perhaps there is something I'm missing about the motorcycle missions. Perhaps I just can't handle the pseudo isometric view when it comes to racing.

Camera angle is incredibly important for good steering. Be sure to use the brakes to drift around corners as well, and keep up momentum.

The more you drive in a straight line, the faster you go.

Hit all ramps as fast as you possibly can! :P

I gave up on the first motorcycle mission after many attempts. But game in general feels to difficult for me. A real shame :( I was anjoying the first bit of it.

I too gave up on the first motorcylce mission, that side quests where you have to kill a bunch of guys while riding the bike. It's impossible to ride that thing, shoot, and dodge bullets all at the same time. The controls are too confusing thanks to the isometric camera. It would be fine if it was just riding, but the quest log is very specific in that you have to be mounted to clear it.

Just be more careful about picking your fights!
Most enemies will chase after you, so you can kite them to an area that's a little easier to drive.

Are you playing on controllers?
I'm on KB+M, and found the mission pretty reasonable.
But ya, definitely a dozen deaths at least getting the hang of driving with the iso-cam without pinning myself into a wall to get shot up against.

my weapon were completly bugged in this mission, and projectiles flew slower then the bike itself.
To instantly complete the mission go backwards and cross the finish line three times (in any direction)

I am not sure if the Motorcycling segments are too difficult or not to be honest. I do however feel strongly that your mission of going after the person who framed you for murder feels just shamefully small. I mean here we are in a world where millions of lives must have been lost by the actions of whomever designed and continues to manufacture those homicidal bikes. I mean in the history of this world has the act of getting on one of those physics ♥♥♥♥♥ smackin crotch throttlers ever failed to result in at least one death? I mean with me I usually kill at least myself, two or three bad guys, four to ten bystanders, a cop or two, my steam controller and/or my mouse and keyboard. That's all in span of about 33 seconds.

I am sorry but from the moment this game put me on a bike I quit thinking of it as a game and more of a complete joke that costs $20 bucks...lucky for me it's a joke I find very funny. Did anyone playtest this game at all? I hope if they did they were in on the joke because....well I would just feel really bad for anyone who has played enough terrible games to sit back after ten minutes of hapless motobiking in Tokyo 42 and said..."well that was a satisfactory experience and no further polish necesary! Release the damn thing already!"

I think the thing that's a real shame about the motorcycle, racing specifically, is that you can't combat other drivers on the track.

I mean c'mon, the whole motorcycle and the way they hold the katana are obviously a tribute to Cloud in FF7 and the motorcycle chase scene, but I can't even chop my enemies off their bikes!
I was legitimately heart broken about this.

It's also a shame there's no actual roadways with traffic, or bike gangs, would have added a lot in regards to the experience with vehicles!

*cough cough* katana, golfcup *cough cough*

Hm? I don't follow your comment...
I tried using the katana on other AI riders, but it didn't kill them in the race. :<

I ended up doing this. Thanks for the hack!

Perhaps there is something I'm missing about the motorcycle missions. Perhaps I just can't handle the pseudo isometric view when it comes to racing.

I gave up on the first one. Never was I happier to find the "abort mission" button after enough times of trying and never even managing to be in a position other than "last" by the end. The player's bike seemed less powerful than the opposition, and even if I managed to keep up a bit, the mechanic of needing to change the view while riding the bike, sometimes around obstacles, and sometimes over blind jumps, while riding basically perfectly to not fall behind, seemed to be desigend by a sadist.

No doubt I could have eventually beat it (well, I assume so, has anybody actually beaten it?), but it seemed that the amount of time I'd have to invest into getting to that point, especially to be in pole position after 3 long laps, only to then have to presumably do a harder race next time, wasn't worth it for what best I can tell is a set of optional side missions.

I didn't find the first courier mission very forgiving either (have't tried another yet), which required pixel perfect running to get to the end before the timer ran out, and took me about 10 times to complete, but at least it could be beaten with a reasonable number of tries and I was seeing gradual improvements in progress every time I tried.

I was also dissapointed that I couldn't just do what seemed the obvious solution and gun down the opposition (bullets just went right through them), and using the rocket launcher just resulted in my bike exploding. This felt like the game punishing me for not playing it "the right way".

Note to game developer: Ramp up the difficulty gradually when introducing new gameplay elements! Surely that should be lesson 101 in game design.

The problem with your rocket "just exploding" is that, for the motorcycle race, it appears the targeting reticule passes through the racetrack, meaning you are aiming at the ground somewhere far below. Rocket + pointing down = u ded

Also the bike race is totally feasible, got it on my 3rd try around.
You have to be smooth on corners, maintain momentum, and get as much speed as possible on the straight-aways.
If your acceleration on the straight portions is not perfect, every time, the AI will always beat you on the corners.

I kept getting last every time on the first bike race, then I learned that I could rapidly swing my katana at the other racers (aka equip the katana and spam left click next to one or a large group) to slow them down. I beat the mission the first try after i found that out, and i was ahead of the 2nd place guy by at least 10 seconds.

If you just go back and cross the finish line back and forth it bugs out and thinks you did the full race and all the laps, winning almost instantly.

is there a boost button at all? i feel very sluggish. is it supposed to be like that? i can kinda catch up, but this is ridiculous... the main race i mean. i'm not a completionist, but this has me stubbornly wanting to legit beat it, just that it seems almost like a waste if time :/
