Windows resolution & mouse changes - read first
A few fixes for the new year:

- Fullscreen resolution is now attempting to match the desktop resolution. The old method (trying to find the highest resolution) started glitching on Windows 10, but it's still available by using the "legacy" command line option, or by editing the ig2.settings file.

- Mouse is now captured in the window by default, meaning you won't be able to move the cursor outside the window. If for some reason you prefer the old way, you can disable it by either using the command line argument "mouse_uncaptured", without quotes, or editing the ig2.settings file and removing the // characters from the line that says "mouse_uncaptured=1"

- The pirate planet will always show up on the map when the mission is activated.

How do I access this beta branch version of the game?

Go to your steam library, right click on "Imperium Galactica II.", properties, Betas tab, and choose "publicbeta" from the dropdown menu.

EDIT: as of 23 April 2018, changes of the beta branch have been integrated into the main download stream, and the branch is now gone.

I can confirm the mouse is locked in the game window. Man could I have used this in my long game lol. I have 2 screens so I was having lots of troubles with scrolling in that game due to this issue. Glad someone reported it as I forgot to!

I never had a problem with the pirate mission in my original long game as the base was near my starting planets, I guess I got lucky!

Started 5 solarian games on easy:

Game 1 - I found the pirate base before I even got the mission as it was very near my starting planets. Once detected I got the mission.

Game 2 - Got the pirate mission but couldn't find the pirate base despite exploring the direction that the pirate fleet attacked from. Base must have been too far from starting position. I got the message saying I'd failed and that the merchants had paid someone else to deal with them a little too quick as well.

Game 3 - Didn't get pirate mission, got a alien attack mission instead.

Game 4 - Didn't get pirate mission, got a alien attack mission instead.

Game 5 - Got the pirate mission but couldn't find the pirate base despite exploring the direction that the pirate fleet attacked from. Base must have been too far from starting position. Looks like the bug might relate to how it sometimes chooses the planet for the base. If it puts it too far away it is impossible for you to complete the mission. Ship radar ranges are so small at the beginning that you could be on top of it and not see it if its too far away.

I was under the impression that the pirate planet should show up no matter what. Hm. I probably didnt make it worse tho :)

A user sent me a save game with a fix repro of the bug and that case works now. Now i just want to make sure it's not breaking anything. A few missed opportunities of the mission, i can live with.

For some reason the sticky threads appear as grey 'read' instead of white 'unread' when i visit the forums so i keep having to manually check them. If the same is happening to you that could be why. The beta version is still there i think if you wanna have a go.

The original version of IG2 also had the problem of the "invisible pirate base", before patch 1.06

I have the GoG version. Is testing still ongoing? New beta patch releases? Just wondering how things are shaping up and wether multiplayer is comming along. I have not heard much on progress.

right now i hace no reason to get the steam version since i have the old discs and a community patch, everything after that is good. some upgrades would be a nice thing going forward to this old game, a real gem.

Love this Game, anyone know if multiplayer is possable or if anyone is working on it? I've always wanted to play multiplayer but evan with the old disks I could only find multiplayer patches that excluded real time ground and space battles. The outcomes were just semi-random outcomes based on fleet strength.

Im not aware of the flashing screen problem, if the unresponsive mouse means slow movement, you could try checking out the second paragraph in the opening post.
