Just slowly drag in the most stable circle you can.
Tbh if you can't get it from video tutorials its not likely you will understand it by people telling you on the forums.
To circle strafe, start by looking away from where you want to land by around 45 Degrees.
Press and hold forward (W), sprint (shift) and Left (A) or Right (D) depending on which direction you are jumping.
As you are nearing the beginning of the jump whilst holding forward, sprint and a direction key, press the jump button whilst still holding forward, sprint and a direction key (they have to held during the jump). At the the same time as jumping you have to move the mouse smoothly in an arc, starting from where you were first aiming (around 45 degrees away from target) to the target destination which you will end up looking in the opposite direction you first started (could be around 20-30 degrees maybe more idk). Just practice the smooth movement, no amount of videos or guides will help but you practicing it!
The most important thing is as soon as you jump to the moment you land, you must keep a smooth input of the mouse in an arc to get maximum distance of the strafe. I can't say enough how important the mouse smooth movment is! It's the main thing in strafe jumping! Moving the mouse to sharply or quickly or even too slowly and you won't reach maximum distance.
Try and practice without this next step but, adding in crouch to what you've learnt during the strafe will also maximise distance jumped.
Hope this helps as much as possible.
Thank you! Is it ok that I've been training strafe jump for 8h and still 6 mark is max?(Funny moment that I do strafe jump easily in new Quake)
I prefer forward jump, that showed in the video above when you just look forward and move your hand smoothly down.
