''The Restless Dead'' gives more variation to draugrs and make them more challenging. I also love this mod a lot.
''Holidays'' npcs celebrate holidays and cities also change visually
''Simply Knock'' you can knock on locked doors and if there is someone in that home you can talk to them. Also if you have enough speechcraft they will give you permission to enter their home
"Simply Knock" is a a great recommendation. It really helps to do a quest dialogue if a person is in a house and you don't want to wait. Before, you could enter the house uninvited, interrupting their attempt to shoo you off or call the guards, do your dialogue(s) and leave without getting a bounty.
Beyond Reach is more like a one time mod. Bruma feels like part of the vanilla skyrim. Also Wyrmstooth was so boring I don't know why people are keep recommending that mod
Modding a game involves doing research as well. Read the mod description and see if it is something you would like/enjoy. People can suggest many mods to the OP here but it is still OP's job to read and decide if it is worth to add the suggested mod to their load order. It is not meant to blindly follow other suggestions.
I played this game back and forth dozens of times so I really appreciate "Alternate Start": now you don't have to bother with the whole intro movie / tutorial but instead you can start playing ASAP. This can also become challenging... I started as a warlock thrall which landed me in the area of Riften; and that can be quite a dangerous place for a level 1 player ;)
For followers I just can't get enough of Sofia; a rather potty-mouthed female. You can tone that down a bit but... this is just so funny. Keep in mind that there's also a bit of "adult stuff" here, not necessarily NSFW but also adult'ish topics. Give her some alcohol and she'll immediately gulp it down, only to get drunk and then she starts stumbleing all over the place. But if we're talking followers then I can't help and mention M'rissi too, she's just way too cute. And the quest is pretty cool as well IMO.
(edit): I even forgot to mention "AFT": Amazing Follower Tweaks, an awesome mod if you want to have more control over followers.
"Run for your lives"; when a dragon attacks then villagers won't just go staring at the battle but will actually run away. This can even help protect some NPC's that are important for quests.
There's just so much to choose from... QOL: a better map, better lanterns.. better body models. I also enjoy some of the modded player homes, some of them have a cool (but shallow) storyline that comes with it but most of all: you get everythng you need to sort out your loot, showcase your goodies and of course: plenty of devices to craft stuff.
I actually prefer to find a good balance between vanilla and modded. I have plenty of mods, but I also don't want to turn Skyrim into something its not. No Thomas in my world ;)
* Crystalwind Estate and the Waterfalls of Rielle (masterpiece of an estate with its own mansions, waterfalls, lakes, custom horses, and ghost guards - I let loose some friendly creatures there, using Anna Fantasy Followers mod from CC)
* Guardians' Overlook (cute cabin near Guardian Stones; its basement is a museum alternative to LOTD)
* Island Hobbit Home - Revisited
* Dol Khazun - Mountain Stronghold Reborn
* Falkreath Overlook Farmhouse SE (goes well with the Falkreath Waterfall Cave mod)
* Alchemist's Basement (cool basement cave under Alchemist's Shack)
* Aldamar - Druid Mushroom Home
* Ebongrove - Recall and Teleport SE (magnificent single-cell scenic cave home; good for followers as a little home base)
* Shaman's Hut SE (cute little shaman/tribal hut in the plains of Whiterun hold; there was a similar cute Mammoth house mod that added a tribal hut made out of a mammoth skull near the hot springs, but I can't seem to be find it again)
Mammoth Home - LFPHS - https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/16801
Yes, thank you! I had used this Mammoth Home on Oldrim, but I couldn't find it on SSE (and a cursory search on old Nexus didn't show it for some reason), so I thought the mod author had removed it. Glad to know it's still there.
Someone should port this mod to SSE please.
It looks groovy, and works perfect as a hot springs home.
I love little mods like this, that add unique ambiance to Skyrim.
Check out the Fungus House[www.nexusmods.com] by the same author - it's cute.
Elianora created a similar (better) fungus/mushroom themed abode mod for SSE (also available for LE/Oldrim): Aldamar - Druid Mushroom Home[www.nexusmods.com]. I am using this mod on AE, as a rustic foresty house for Tauriel the Wood Elf (set it as a home base for follower, using NFF or MHIYH mods).
