Skyrim Why Time Does Not Work?
So why does time not work like how time should be? time never moves like how
it does in our world, but would Skyrim have been better if it moved like our
time to spend day in Skyrim to be like spending day in our time, we can wait
or fwd time if want so why not? not needed for quests, why have time like so?

I find it annoying having to fast travel to get to merchants only for them to
be close because they work 72 mins day?

Its not much, should it at least have been 4 hours day? so I have to fwd time.
Fwd would work the same as it does now. So should there be more time? mods?

So with ESO does time work like our time in life?
So how do npc use time? or don't? they don't have watches.

A clock is round, so is a wheel of cheese, that's where the truth lies.

The extra time is used when you are logged off.

Game time cannot be the same as real time. Otherwise most players would get bored. They have limited time to play. Having real time in the game would be too slow. They are not going to mimic real life struggles.

Annoying with fast travel and arriving at the wrong time, now that may be the closest thing you've said in these threads that may have some understandable sense to it. Such situations might suggest fast travel time may need some quality of life adjustments in future games.

NPCs follow their scripts based on time of day in game time. So they do the same thing every day based on their in-game checklist. Naturally watches don't exist. Their tech level isn't that advanced. If this were real life, most people would be up with the sun, chickens, or their "internal clock".

Perhaps go outside and get some fresh air. With this many threads, a break from Skyrim (maybe computer in general) will do you some good. Don't let your life revolve around a game.

So have other time modes? so when DB fast travel to soldtute from whiterun
did company calculate by DB walking or running? people tested to walk run time?

If you want.. you can console command the game into 24 hours of real time = 24 hours game time.
Altbert May 1, 2024 @ 4:11pm
Open the console and use
set timescale to 1
not recommended because of many issues, but see if you like to play the game in real time!

Stop asking rediculous questions if you can already find the answer everywhere online!

I would advise against any Real-time mod as it breaks character schedules just the same as it does in any game with an accelerated timescale.
If you want a game that plays in Real time, play a simulation or Animal Crossing.

It is only called fast travel because you the player are quickly doing it but in game the dragonborn is running to that spot while you load in which is why the time continues to progress. It is fast *travel* not fast teleport. It is like in the real world if you wanted to go to a merchant but it takes an hour then you need to plan your journey to account for that time because if you leave too late then they will close when you get there like fast traveling to skyrim merchants.

Mark and Recall was the only means of true teleportation in the series but that form of magic is missing from Skyrim as it is redundant since one can fast travel from nearly any point on the overworld map. It seems that Itsuno Hideaki really enjoyed that mechanic enough to lift it for use in Dragon's Dogma then ran with it as far as he could.

You can actually play Skyrim in real time............... As long as while you play... you DO NOT wait, sleep, or fast travel. As soon as you do one of those activities... the npc's and game get pretty well borked.

I mean think If it was real time players would only play at day or night time (not including sleep or wait).

The modern concept of time really didn't exist for most people for most of history. People got up at dawn, went to bed at night, got up in the middle of the night for an hour or two then slept again till dawn.

If you needed to make sure you woke up at dawn you paid someone to throw a pebble or use a stick to tap on your window. Yes alarm clock was an actual job at one point.

Everything in Skyrim is compressed from the size of towns and cities to the actual size of the map and time itself to give a sense of a day/night cycle.

If you find it annoying to get to a merchant and they are only open for 72 real world minutes then how are you going to feel when they are closed for literal hours?

So we play mage so why cant we teleport? survival mode should have real time?
Was time always 72 mins in ES? How do characters know when to stop working?
Mez Koo May 2, 2024 @ 4:36pm
Skyrim is a 24 hour day just like real world, we can't teleport because Bethesda didn't put it in.

Teleport was never created in the game. Wouldn't be any different from fast travel.

There should not be real-time in game. Do you really want to take hours or days to forge a cheap iron knife?

Characters know when to stop because that is how they are programmed with the in-game time.

Seems you are missing some very obvious concepts.
Sairek Ceareste May 2, 2024 @ 7:06pm
Sure you can teleport. You just need the console to do it.

I.E.:

"coc whiterun"

Will center you on "Whiterun's" cell.
