Is there a way to make an unarmored character?
There seems to be a means to make an unarmed character but unarmored is it possible?

Yes, just wear clothing/robes, and cast a shield spell before a battle (those are called oakflesh, stoneflesh, etc.)
https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Armor_(spells)
For best results, use a robe enchanted with fortify alteration, and pick the shield-enchanting perks from the alteration skill three. Or beeline for the "dragonhide" master spell.

You can't do it the same as in Oblivion where you could enchant clothing with elemental shield spells and reach the armor cap. In Oblivion I could easily reach the armor cap, and have over 90% magic resistance, with no armor at all. In Skyrim I've never had much success with conjuration or alteration as a substitute for armor.

When I'm playing a caster I typically use light armor ... heck, I typically use light armor no matter what I'm playing. In my experience, if you want to go without armor your best bet would be a heavy stealth build and totally avoid any sort of melee confrontations.

All major magic overhaul mods have a mechanic which lets you auto-cast a spell(or several) when you enter combat. Otherwise, casting the shields is quite the hassle.
To add to the flesh spells you'll also probably want the Lord Stone, it gives 100 points of armor along with magic resist.
- Can I ask why you would want your character to be unarmoured? (If it is for mage roleplay, go for mage clothes enchanted heavily for magic purpose)
- What about light armour? (Too light for you?)
I got the top notch armour spell, the master level, and wear vamp clothing... I am Stealth/Necromage, so don't usely have to get involved, in anything.....

If i do have to get involved, daggers take em out, BUT even with the highest armour spells, im still very very squishy, but then I have next to know health, so if doing unarmoured, you'd need 1 hella lot of health.

Do's infinite manna count? hahahaha Alt/Dest/Conj spells cost me nothing, mass paralize is a hoot and a 1/2 with infinite manna.

You ever tried to max out your armor rating with only boots?
use mods or console commands. just a single 'player.modav damageresist %' goes a long way. But you can further tune it with poisonresist, fireresist, magicresist, etc. if you don't want to make an uber god-like character. Just look up actorvalues on UESP.

many monk/martial artists builds are really going to require combat mods too; all bethesda games are horrible at giving you visual queues you're in range to hit bare-handed, especially in 1st person since there's no HBAO or any AO or shadows on your limbs, you just learn with lots of cussing and dying. I highly rec mods for this. And you'll get more than a staggering right hook.

mods also help with armouring up if you don't want to do it directly, there's cloak mods that have their own stats, and mods that allow you to wear more enchanted jewelry, forearm bracers without the glove part of gauntlets other than hide you can enchant, dodge mods (well one, really) to help you avoid being hit in the first place, etc.
In that past couple of years, I've taken to playing this game "unarmored" without enchantments, while carrying typical weapons.
It's a challenge.
I must be misunderstanding the question but just don't wear light or heavy armor? There are basic gloves, boots, hats, and clothes without an armor rating and if you want to "build into it" then just use alteration magic that offers armor spells that increase your armor rating and has perks that offer improved armor spells and magic resistance.

Armor doesn't have rpg stats so you don't even "need" armor in this game and is either for roleplay, fashion, or enchantments.
that's the opposite end though, a stray arrow ragdolls you. friendly fire is often lethal too, got to pick your followers carefully, especially indoors. And unless you cheat a little on potion creation, their durations are so short you burn through dozens of them clearing out a tomb or dwarven ruins... "challenge" is really under-selling how careful you have to approach combat! I doubt armageddon is wanting that, that's advanced hardcore skyrim, for a veteran player who's trying to put some excitement back into a game they know well.

Sounds like my legendary pure mage play through and yes that is the whole point is to think about the approach such as being aware if there are archers or mages and having a companion to be the front line along with a conjured atronach. But I doubt the OP is looking to do legendary and outside of legendary do you really have to worry about a stray arrow? Just use restoration or potions if you get tagged by one and its dangerous.

Unless OP is looking to make a monk type character that is a robbed unarmed figher there isn't much difficulty unless you're actively trying to kill yourself running into a camp with 4 ranged enemies and you're naked.

I was half-expecting that to be the (NSFW) Dibellan Defender mod
