At time of writing, all but one of those mods is working and so I'm playing on the current version.
Having said all this - I don't know that the downgrade patcher is available for the current steam version.
So I'd probably take the "if it ain't broken, don't fix it" approach here, unless that tool is showing that it works ok the most up-to-date version number(s). You can always update later if you want, but downgrading isn't so straightforward.
The author has a lot of fix, etc mods for stability and performance. He also notes the AE has fixes not found elsewhere. He has several guides for different game versions and more on his page, click his avatar.
That being said, I am very happy with the AE version. Not sure I have an interest in some of the CC content, but it is easy enough to shut off, as I seen mention of in videos. But, a lot of the mod authors pages I been to already have updates for the CC content relating to their mods.
I actually have not found a direct problem myself. I only said that above because some mod pages posts reported problelm, because they were quite old and not updated mods, so I decided to pass on them rather than invite the problems. A couple I really want I might have to patch, but, thus far, been able to avoid most of those problems with mod authors already updating. Here is the link to the guide. If for nothing else, the fix and tweak mods are worth the review to make sure one has. Hope this helps.

I can say the author is a vet at modding and I have read of other vets here like Altbert who are in the process of building new LOs for the current versions. Maybe more of the vets/experienced modders will respond for you. Best
anniversary upgrade itself in my opinion is only worth it for those who played the base game without modding before. for a modder it offer a lot of not needed problems and deliver not really much. lets say all they added would have matched into a single file but they made it a bunch of files in lighpliugin version. not a problem for the most but if you mod with vortex it will be a pain in the... because vortex count different. if you are using SSELODGEN you have to deactivate all of your mods that are using USSEP for example and everything thats over the 'normal' plugin limit. that means NORMAL PLUGIN COUNT + LIGHT PLUGIN COUNT = FULL AMOUNT and you have to deactivate a bunch of plugins by hand before you can run lod generation and after it you have to activate it all by hand again.<3
generally for the modders i would recommend to play on the newest version because MOST STUFF get supported very fast. if you are using stuff like DETECTION METER/QUICK LOOT/QUI or such than its getting complicated to find a supported version but there are alternatives for those that do the same stuff but wear different names. i wrote a lot yata yata now and in the end it will be your choice what you do my friend. i wish you much luck and fun with whatever choice you make!
Since you are asking for version 640, the answer is No.
The recent updates have broken a lot, and the fixes each seem to break more than they fix.... So until the updates dix the vast majority of what they have broken it simply isn't worth the hassle, because you can't simply update and lock it down, you need the next update too..... and the next, and the ones after that.....
