Honestly, if you plan to install a big modpack then do not use the in-game mod manager for this. It is the worst of all options to install mods. Better get yourself a good external mod manager like Vortex or MM2 and download your mods from nexusmods.com. You will be much happier with this in the long run, especially when you want to install many more mods in the future as well as to install more complex mods.
Creation Club mods are required, in fact I have a problem with this, I couldn't install it because it was maintenance

you're not alone buddy i spent a day downloading and installing stuff and now i can't complete the process, really bethesda start to get me on nerve.

I don't use nolvus but I use modpacks from wabbajack which require all cc mods. The mod list I'm using from wabbajack is char grinn.
