Why oh why is no fast travel considered """hardcore"""
So it has been a long time since I last played Skyrim, and now there's a survival mode a la New Vegas on offer

Sounds great, some additional micro management and making fluff items useful, sounds great.

Until I read "no fast travel"
I would never want to waste my time that badly, to do some of the fetchiest quests with absolutely horrendous downtimes of walking around doing jack-all.
Already having the necessity of food and sleep creates needs to prepare for a fast travel journey by eating, sleeping, buying food and planning shorter fast travels.
Walking for half an hour is not content, especially if you are a working adult, which most original Skyrim fans should at this point be.

Damn

If I'm that in need of a difficulty accomplishment, I'd just switch to a souls-like of my choice.
And taking the conversation to mods is a slippery slope I "can't win" since obviously everything would be a perfect example if modded so, bringing out requiem has absolutely nothing to do with the vanilla survival mode.

It does have something in common with survival mode, that is lack of fast travel. Also as previously stated, this is not a win or lose issue, just a player preference issue. But you asked in your OP why is no fast travel considered hardcore. So you're are obviously going to spawn conversation about opinions on game modes and fast travel. Which is what happened.

Who the hell runs away from a Troll? LoL

Lvl 1 run and grab the invisibilty potions then run and grab the Summon Bow spell then while still lvl 1 use the summoned bow and any rock to own trolls. No need for more exploits.

Or be a real dragonborn and melt that beasty into troll fat with that apprentice flame spell then get a free mages tower just beacuse you have that apprentice flame spell. LoL, it just works ineed with the Creation Club.

Except I didn't say walking is hardcore. So laugh it up. You we're asking why no fast travel is considered hardcore. And I was explaining why some people prefer it.

How you gonna cast bound bow at level 1? It costs well over 100 magicka. Maybe an Altmer can do it, but no other race can at level 1.

I am new at this game owned it for awhile, well the first one, not the anv updated one, but never could get into this game for some reason. Now I am playing it on survival mode. An now I am really enjoying the game, yes not having fast travel is sometime a pain.

SO I just check my quest log and do what is close or seems close at the time. Have run into places I more then likely would of never if I just fast traveled.

Now the carriages are your friend, and you have to account for that, every time you want to do a long trip, you have to pay. As you can not fast travel. I mean they do not cost a ton, but its still money you have to fork out each and every time.

I play a bit before work and a bit after, right now, and sometimes, do to work. I kind of wish I chose fast travel just to speed things up. But for now my char has two feet and a heartbeat he can walk. No getting instant beamed to another town.

He was just being funny to my self deprecating brain, why did you even respond to a chain that was not even considering our earlier conversation
Like stay mad my guy if you just had an agenda to push

Dunno, 200 hours-ish with main campaign and all DLC completed seems pretty "into it"
Sorry for the snooping, but I mean just had to check for the cool story bro

That was my son ,not me. He really enjoyed it, beat it more then once I think on here and his xbox. I guess that could lead to some confusion. I tried it just could not get into it.

And that had to be first one right, because I did not buy anv upgrade until this past xmas sale.

Do not care that you snooped, but if you look. I could also say I am new to a few games on my account. Like jurrasic world 2. I have never touched it but own it and all dlc. But my other son, has almost every achivment in the game.

I am not the only one that uses this pc.

and really cool story bro. For real.
