You're still going to have issues at 144, though it's you game do whatever you want.

If you're using an NVIDIA card open the NVIDIA Control Panel, use the menu search bar ff you don't have an icon for it.
Manage 3D setting> Program Settings> Skyrim Special Edition> Max Framerate> Set it at 144.

The engine can only handle 60fps, you have to lock it at that. Same with all Bethesda games using the Gamebryo/Creation Engine

You need the SSE Display Tweaks:
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/34705

The engine can handle more than 60fps fine. What causes problems are extremely high framerates which the above mod addresses. It allows to limit the framerate for a range of situations individually (in-game, loading screen, menu, waiting, sleeping, etc.). This is also useful for laptops where one might want to limit the framerate to 30fps in some situations to conserve battery power.

Avoid running with a lot of mods, because some mods cannot handle more than 60fps and too many mods can push the game to its limits.

Can't you set framerate with ENB?

Either way, it's probably better to keep it around 60, unless you're not using any physics mods.

Better solution uncap the frame rate and throw enough 8k textures at it

I tried that it seems now my game wont unlock from 60fps at all i made sure Vsync is disabled changed all the ini files to disable it made sure its disabled in my Nvidia contorl panel and i cant get it to unlock from 60fps it hard locked on 60 now for some reason this game is more annoying to mod then any other bethesda game i swear

i got a 4090 even with 8k textrures my fps would still go way above what the engine can handle which is the issue

Check that you did not lock it with ENB.

Some time ago, Bethesda silently locked the game at 60 FPS (it had never been locked before, as exceeding 60 was not something that was a thing). This was a move made in response to the fact that people had begun increasingly attempting to play the game in excess of 60 FPS due to the better technology available on PCs and monitors (and proliferation of mods) that made exceeding 60 possible - and with all the issues that doing so resulted in. The fact of Bethesda locking the game at 60 in light of this, is perhaps the single best indication that the game is not designed to be played over 60 FPS.

Exceeding 60 FPS is one of those things that we wish was possible in a reliable manner, but unfortunately, despite what we would hope for and wish, none of the proposed solutions has proven to be reliable or foolproof. It would seem that the only way to reliably address this is for Bethesda itself to rework the game engine so as to uncouple it from the FPS. Hopefully we will see something better implemented with Starfield and the next TES game (whenever that might be).

The bottom line is that it is up to the individual to decide if they wish to risk things by uncapping, but given all that we have seen over the years as to problems, it is just not something that those of us with long experience in the forums can ever recommend in any form (nor something that we can help with if a person does decide to uncap their game - it's a "do at your own risk" type of deal) - hence why people always see us posting that the FPS should not be uncapped and that it should always be set no higher than 60. It's a "best practices" approach.

Dude thanks man that mod along with using the enblocal.ini to cap fps to 144fps fixed this issue for me.

i played though the OG game with a uncapped fps and i never had physics issues it all depends on how high that fps is in the first place 144 should be find but anything above that you might start encountering major issues. which is what i was dealing with since my fps was going over 400 fps which was causing the game to go crazy.

Read the room. He is trying to unlock his framerate it. He is not asking for your fantasy speculations on what and why Bethesda does things. This is the rubbish you tell yourself, because you have a heavily modded game with bouncing tits and so you can keep playing it. Nobody wants to know about it. The game can be played with well above 60fps without issues.

<snipped because it's toxic crap based on sdack's opinion>.
I wouldn't accuse steve of fantasy, he is basing it on what he knows as a programmer, even if you disagree with him you should at least be acknowledging that he saying what he says because of his knowledge.

And just because people don't notice the problems that uncapping the FPS causes doesn't mean they don't exist
