Charred Skeever Hide & Powdered Mammoth Tusk
If I can kill skeevers and get their tails, why can't I cook 'em and get charred skeever hides out of it? Same for mammoth tusks. What special process is available only to the vendors of Skyrim? Long time pet peeve. Just sayin',

Aand, of course, there are mods for both. That's why people are still playing.

Charred Skeever Hide, because dumb.
Powdered Mammoth Tusk, the lore reason is only the Giants know how to grind the ivory properly into a powder. You know, same way no one knew how to separate lead from iron in the Dark Ages, and thus the Turks would raid Roman storehouses for the lead they needed for cannonballs until those smelting techniques were eventually rediscovered.

Because the priority was on adding fishing to the game, and completely breaking people's installations (modded or not).

Except that these two ingredients are part of the vanilla Oldrim. Not even Hearthfire, Dragonborn or Dawnguard. At the time even devs couldn't know about Fishing creation.

So you are just toxic.

You don't understand that this "bug" or "defect" can not have any relation to efforts spent for Fishing coz Fishing was released like 6 years later, do you? When this "bug" was done there was no even SE at all. Just Oldrim. Yet you think it has some connection. So you just want to create some toxicity here. Obvious.

Charred Skeever hide because dumb? Okay... Got a dead skeever's hide and a fire here, how ELSE ya gonna get charred skeever hide?

And yeah, the mod that 'fixes' the mammoth tusk thing by putting it on the loot list of defeated giants mentions the whole 'only giants know how' thing. But that sounds like lore being used to retconn a fix for a mistake to me.

Hmm... one of my mods ads the option to create charred skeever hides. I haven't even paid attention which one it was. I am not using CACO, so maybe Hunterborn? I need to check.

It is fine on occasion to bash BGS from their BS, but it needs to be in context. I don't see how creations have anything to do with not fixing bugs from the game, seeing that Bethesda mostly just acts as a publisher for them.

Fishing is actually quite good creation. It needed a simple patch for bathing and that is all.

I find charred skeever hides at giant camps. The skeevers are being roasted over the big center fire and you can jump up and loot the charred skeever hide off of the roasting skeever.

Anything that I find that I know is rare in the game I save because I might need it later. Play this game long enough and you remember where to find certain things.

There is a creation with AE dlc that needs a charred skeever hide for a quest but it actually gives it to you as a quest item. It still shows with your other ingredients carried so you might mistakenly think you have found one, until you find that you cannot drop it or use it.

Yeah. You can't make charred skeever hide, because of dumb oversight. Should be pretty simple to make, but nuh.
It sounds weird at first sure but its not unreasonable that the Giants know how to work and crush ivory in ways your average Nord does not; their comparatively extreme strength and the big stone bowls probably help too. Milling wheat is one thing, mammoth ivory for all we really know could be a very difficult material to work with and completely different than irl, so a fantasy universe really can handwave stuff with "this group of people / creatures knows how to make X, but you can't".
Adding it to Giant's loot list seems entirely reasonable though.
Charred Skeever Hide should have been added to the cooking recipes.... not that you want to eat it.

As for Powdered Mammoth Tusk, only the Giants know how because they own all the Mammoths, there are no wild Mammoths in the game.... but there are Mammoth Tusks in the game, so either the Nords value the Tusks for carving (weird but ok) or they just don't want to spend hours grinding away at a tusk for a few septims worth of powder....

Ok, someone new to add to the blocklist. Though this is the first time I've had to do so because they were insane.

Seriously, get some help man.

Sure, that's kind of my point. How ELSE would you get charred skeever hide? And yet, when you off a skeever, you can get their tail but not their skin.

Not familiar with yours, the one I used was uploaded by theFrenz, and does just that- and skeever meat cooking. Yum.

The 2 ingredients listed by the OP came well before fishing was a thing, before modding got far off the ground. Before SE or AE was a thing..
it was even before Beth had released Dawnguard...

Now tell us how what you claim here has any bearing on the thread?
I don't see any reason why a CC creation not actually made by Beth, added so many years later, is the sole cause of not being able to create powdered mammoth tusk?.
so on that basis TH was right. Your just here to cause problems...

You call others a troll and tell them to get help? oh man, you should look in a mirror... One will stare right back at you.

The skeever hide i can't really understand.. anyone should be able to make that.... I can burn something if i really wanted to.. though what a waste of food that would be :steammocking:

Powered tusk though? you'd need a very strong machine, or person, to create that... So, maybe the giants are the only ones who have that strength to be able to do so?

I thought you somehow got me wrong and that is why I wanted to explain myself more clear. But then I've seen that other people can get my point ok. So no, man, you got in this topic just to spread some negativity here. And you even was unable to make a reasonable connection of your negativity with the topic itself.

I was just posting a stray thought to spark some conversation, which worked, kinda. I didn't expect the feke storm along with it though. Guess I shoulda known better.
