This however is entirely your choice, you don't have to rescue the evil priest, you don't have to return to the house, and you don't have to kill him.... these are all choices you chose to make.... so much for wanting to play a "good" character huh?
If you're playing a good guy you defend yourself inside the house after he attacks you first.
But afterwards you ignore the rest of the quest. never return.
That mace is evil through and through.
