But i thought it is needed to mod?
Using the down-patcher or downgrading the game is strongly NOT recommended by any reputable sources. Anyone who does so is doing it at their own risk. Furthermore, there is absolutely no valid reason for downgrading the game to an older, obsolete, non-supported version that is now well over a year out of date.

Whether new to modding or just coming back to it, you need to review how to mod properly (not being salty - a lot of people don't know how - even some who think they do). For that, see the For Those New to Modding the Game section in this from the PINNED TOPIC Helpful Links and References:
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2882241414

Also, for the best guides available, see this:
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2880880725
From Section 2 of Helpful Links and References

And review the entire PINNED TOPIC for links to other information and Resources, as well:
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2888888400

Know that modding requires reading, and a lot of it. But there are guides to help you through, as well as many very knowledgeable people to answer any questions you may have.
And, always remember the Golden Rule of Modding, and never forget it:
THE GOLDEN RULE OF MODDING:
"No matter how good a mod may look or sound, no matter how much you may really want a mod, if the mod does not work as it should, causes issues in your game, or even seems to have the potential to cause issues, dump the mod. A game that does not work is no game at all."
(from PINNED TOPIC Helpful Links and References, Introduction)

Finally, and most importantly, start small - just add a few mods at a time, test, and then play for a while to ensure there are no issues - don't fall into the trap of adding a bunch of mods and then trying to play. And, very important!!! For most mods, once they are added, they cannot be removed and play continued on that save - you have to roll back to a save made before that removed/disabled mod was installed, or start a new game - absolutely no ifs, ands, or buts about it. So make sure you make a manual save before adding anything, and save often (manually) while playing, so you can roll back to a previous save if necessary. (For why you cannot remove/disable mods midplaythrough, see: You CANNOT Remove Mods Mid-Playthrough - http://steamcommunity.com/app/489830/discussions/0/1520386297681801135/ )

Finally, with all the people posting in the forums, it is sometimes difficult - especially for those new to the forum - to determine whose advice should be followed. With that in mind, see this from the PINNED TOPIC Helpful Links and References for an explanation and list:
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2898569762
If you have any other questions, or are unsure of something, just ask first - it is easier to prevent a problem than it is to fix one - especially where Skyrim is concerned.

Good luck!
I appreciate the details rather than the passive aggressiveness, thank you :)

You dont say? I missed the ''Does not work'' on the most popular video to modding the game on youtube
Many people made the same mistake so don't feel like the Lone Ranger. Those videos get a lot of clicks which many times is the intention. Sure it can be done but I never recommend it for a new or relatively new mod user. Heck even i don't downgrade. There's little need. Then again i protect my game from updates so I can play on the older version until I'm ready to update. Which btw i am, and do play the latest.

Yeah it was very misleading, so to revert should I verify files to revert back to current, then replace SKSE with the right version or should I be uninstalling mod organizer 2 as well?

Do this first, then verify which will install the current version. Then carefully mod from there.
Mod Organizer is fine. Follow the guide but obviously skip the Vortex section. You can use Vortex, i do, but MO2 is absolutely fine. Use what you are comfortable with.

Why do you want to downgrade? I did a clean install of v1.6.640, and in my experience, it has been the most stable version so far. I'm currently at level 70, using 185 mods, and the game hasn't crashed once. All previous versions have had random CTDs. Yes, there are still the same old quest bugs that Bethesda never did fix (Blood on the Ice, and a few others), but there are workarounds available for those.

I'm using Vortex for mod installation, and once you learn how to use it properly, it works great. I also use Loot to sort the load order. If you install v1.6.640, make sure you also use the proper version of SKSE, and update any v1.5.97 mods when available. You may have to dump some mods whose creators have stopped supporting them, but that's life. I had to do that with one of my favorite mods (Lakeview Manor - As It's Supposed To Be) because of issues in the cellar. The lady who created the mod is sadly no longer updating it.

Only downgraded cause the video (being at the top of youtube) said so and was under the impression AE wasnt supported with most mods

Well, that's why you do your own research first.
Don't feel too bad about any mistakes you may make when modding - mistakes are all part of modding and indeed, they are your friends, because they teach you. Nothing teaches better than a mistake, and once you make one and discover how to fix it, you are unlikely to make that same mistake again.
So, take advantage of the information that is available from reliable sources - but don't be afraid to experiment a bit on your own, either. Just remember to make saves and backups just in case you need them - and remember that there are plenty of people ready to help - and if unsure of something, just ask!

Good luck, Ketz!

This kind of happened to me, there was a conflict with SKSE, I just had to reinstall SKSE and the downgrade patcher.

If it crashes after downgrading then it doesn't work....
Just because it works for others does not mean it works for you.

Edit: I'm sorry if the simplistic advice offends, but I usually find people building castles in the sky, and needing to be reminded of a basic principle or two.

The whole point of the thread was to find out why it wasnt working, not to have some sarcastic bs replies.

Most pre AE mods still work with v1.6.640. A few of the ones which don't work with AE have already been updated. You can run Vortex's "Check for Updates..." utility which will show which of your installed mods have newer versions (shows a + warning under the "Versions" column).
