Console command for Calcelmo's letter?
For some reason, the game never triggers the courier to bring me this letter. I'm already level 57, explored quite a bit of the map, found a lot of dwarven items, i've even bought some for myself, but the courier never triggers to bring me the letter. Is there any way of making that happen by console commands?

did you try purchasing them from a vendor and making sure you are in one of the cities when you do so?

Buying a Dwarven item in any city or town is always what triggers it for me--but there are some games where it is never triggered at all. In my last game it was triggered by buying a Dwarven hunting knife--an item added by the Hunterborn mod, which I thought was odd. Keep trying. Selling and buying back Keening might trigger it. If you're not using the Unofficial Patch, try installing that. It fixes many bugs.

I would not use a console command to start the quest. This is a sure way to break your game. Console commands should only be used in emergency situations where nothing else works, and not to initiate a side quest which is not critical to the main quest--simply because you want to do it.

Already did that. I remember buying a dwarven bow at Solitude. Still got nothing.

That's the point, I didnt installed any patch or mod at all, so I might give it a shot, but I'm asking for console command because I tried pretty much everything I found on the internet but nothing seems to work. Didn't knew about Keening, I think I might try it first.

Not sure if installing it (USSEP) mid-playthrough would have any effect.

I did notice on my last playthrough it took forever to get the letter. I wasn't worried about it so I let it ride and sure enough, eventually it came.

I got it, and I didn't buy any dwarven items.

However I had gone through two dwarven ruins, crafted a metric ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of dwarven daggers, then sold some of them at a city. Also acquired 'ancient knowledge' from that one quest in riften.

It might help stop new bugs arising, but it won't fix existing ones.

Pretty sure it's just this, since it's not an instant appearance of the Courier. They spawn and have to actually walk to you, so it can take some time. I haven't gotten the Letter from the Jarl until the low teens before, even though it spawns at level 7, because I kept moving around the map a bunch and the courier had to re-path to me.

Also, that "quest" doesn't do a whole lot except have you sell a certain item to Calcemo; is there any specific reason you're even worrying about it?

The chance is the largest with centurion dynamo cores.

I got one exploring some dwemer ruins in Raven Rock, i also brought one to my house to keep in a display case. Still, no letter.

The reason you didn't get that letter, is because I got it twice. :D

First time when buying a Dwarven Crossbow. Went to him, gave him the crossbow, got the XP, did the quest in Nuanch Zell, left Markath and continued exploring, bought some Dwarven Crossbow bolts and got the letter again.

So if you're looking for your letter, the courier delivered it at the wrong player. ;)

Thorin :D

Question: I finally got Keening, but it seems i can't sell it because it's a quest item. If i deliver it to the NPC, he dissapears, finishing the questline, and the knife is gone. How am i suposed to sell this item to buy it back afterwards?
SpeedFreak1972 May 16, 2020 @ 1:49am
to my knowledge keening is dropped upon disappearance have a look around in the room
Keening just falls to the ground, it should be right in the middle of the room, it should not disappear.

It worked, finally. After killing some random bandits in a cave, i got from one of them a dwarven flaming sword, and recieved the letter when i came back to Whiterun.
Thanks everybody who took their time trying to help me.
