The first thing coming to mind is that you're using FNIS but forgot to re-run it after adding (or removing) some mods. The second idea: you removed some mods during a game, that can result in some very weird and unwanted effects.

Sorry if i'm also jumping on this thread for help but I'm also having this issue when I use the Switch Outfit mod to switch between outfit for my female assassin. It's switching between the Riding Hood outfit from Apachii Outfits and the BSA Unholy Sacrament Armor from BSA Assassin armor. Her head would go invisible whenever I switch outfits and reappear when I switch back.

maybe you don't have the appropriate body mod for the specific armor?

Not sure but when I switch to that outfit manually, basically undressing my character and wearing the armor and everything else her head is just fine. It's only when I use that Switch Outfit mod. In case you don't know that mod it helps saves two of your character clothing attire in one button so whenever you hit it, it switches back and forth between the outfits, useful for going adventuring gear (combat enchantment and armor) and town gear (enchanted with speech and alchemy bonuses). That's why I'm asking whether it's a problem with the mod itself or an installation error.

You noticed only the missing head?
Not the missing (purple) texture? You have a lot meshes/textures conflicts, my friend.
Start disabling mods to see which one is causing the problem.

its the outfit switching mod itself then

Hmm I suspect as much. But I'll give it a few more tests and perhaps contact the author. Thank you for your time.

When the whole head is missing, but the head gear is there, the first thing I look at is the helmet/hood I was trying to equip when it disappeared. I will open it in creation kit and look at the body part data on both the armor form and the armor addon. What can happen sometimes is, if a modder makes something like a kettle helmet, but duplicates a guard helmet to use as a base, and doesn't change the body part data, the game will hide the entire head because it thinks the helmet covers it all. So you want to open the head gear in question, side by side with a vanilla item that should cover the same areas (a similar helmet or hood) and make sure the body part data on both the armor form and the armor addon(s...there can be multiples for beast races) match what is on the vanilla items.

If the head and headgear are missing, check to make sure the armor addon has actually assigned a mesh to both male and female bodies. If there's no mesh assigned, it can show as invisible armor, and leave body gaps.

ive found that unequiping everything, closing game without saving and unistalling the mod, continuing your game, saving when you see your head and hair, save and then reinstalling BSA fixes it
Obviously this is a dead post, but when you search for a fix for this happening this comes up, so i shall give you the method to really quickly fix it.

Just open your console and type in player.unequipall

Just wanted to report that this fixed it for me also, Thank you!

I'm not sure if this is mod-specific, but I noticed that with the Black Sacrament Armor Mod, the body armor makes you become invisible while you sneak. I saved my game while I was sneaking and reloaded and then I got the invisible head. If you go into third person, you can see that your head actually gets "removed" for a brief second when you come out of invisibility, then normally reappears. Maybe saving my game while in sneak mode, causes some weird bug?

Either way, thank you for posting this!
