Modded Vanilla vs. SE same scene quality comparison.
Medium-ish Setting, ENB + 30-ish mods, Avr fps around 50fps.
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=791171438

ULTRA Setting, No Mods, Avr FPS around 15.
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=791172866

While I like better LOD I think I will stick with modded vanilla for some time especially when my vanilla isn't even modded to full potential. Playing SE on medium doesn't make much sense without all these 2K+ textures and other mods.

Uhm it's the original product bud made by the same company. Yes they do call Remasters Vanilla. B/c the definition of vanilla is simply the base game without any third party modifications.

In the end a remaster can be considered vanilla b/c it's essentially a new game in base form. Yeah it has some stuff added but it was made by the same company. So When you compare Skyrim and Skyrim SE you have to compare them both without mods. Why? B/c Skyrim modded is not the same as base SSE version of the game. So in the end Original Skyrim unmodded is same as Skyrim SPecial Edition b/c they are both base games with no mods from any other third party.

Take into account that Original Skyrim has had close to 6+ years with mod support. And Skyrim Special Edition just came out. Trust me when I say Skyrim SE will surpass SE at some point. THough already some mods will not be ported by authors and same with SkyUI which is pretty freaking sad.

I wasn't the the one who said that SE is better than moded vanila. If you ahve problem with my thread go talk to people who claimed that SE in it's basic state is better than moded vanilla ;)

What you said was Modded vanilla is better than SE. Which is essentially the same as the other way around. Your pictures is of Modded Skyrim Vanilla compared to base SE without mods. That isn't a fair comparison. Do both without mods on either one. That is how you compare them. So Vanilla Skyrim is in fact worse than SE. But trying to say modded skyrim is better than SE without mods is an unfair comparison. Wait till SE gets same amount of mods and support. I am basically saying this whole thread is you trying to claim that modded Skyrim is better than SE version. Which ironically is not a good comparison. Try modding SE when it gets same mod coverage as original and then you can make that assessment.

That is why ppl are attacking you... You essentially started this whole comparison on those terms. Not a good idea.

Don't bother with him, he still thinks complete lack of 4K texture, volumetric lighting, extreme DoF, AO and sharpening on his screenshot is better quality.

Ironically you maybe surprised but SE has upscaled textures up to 4k. Don't think anyone realizes this. They did a crappy upscale with the textures. That's why now there are mods for optimization packs on SE textures b/c they have been upscaled by a noob method that isn't the proper way and it just bloated the living crap out of skyrim se.

Yep which is why I stuff it with 4K mods. The original on the other hand choke itself and die due to 32 bit limitation.

Not exactly it's D3D9 not being supported by drivers. It's been an interesting find but Boris claims that d3d9 in latest drivers has forced the vram lock. It's not necessarily due to being 32bit game. That's the sad part b/c on win 7 that didn't matter. I know ppl who had 8GB of their vram being used but in Win10 they are hardlocked at 4GB of VRAM due to the recent drivers in win10.

Since they upgraded lighting and shaders to post 2015 standars it kinda is fair game.

The textures / meshes not the case. And trust me when I say this. It's not fair game. B/c when ppl talk about vanilla they mean the game without any form of mods. So if you compare you better compare the originals of both versions with no mods. Or both versions with mods. That is how it's done. That's why the base SE version is superior than original. That is how they sold it to consoles. That was their method. You can't compare a modded skyrim to non modded SE game. That's not how that works. The whole community thinks of vanilla without any form of mods. That's how they perceive it as.

In many ways the new shaders have caused negative impact on games fidality on certain mods b/c how they changed certain things. The textures still use the original texture format as d3d9 version. Which is pretty freaking sad. They removed support for TGA format and they changed nif formats as well. The new shaders / dof / and all that isn't really that impressive. I have reshade presets that come close to ENB level. You need to realize that 3.0 has DOF and AO built into it. In fact 3.0 has something called MXAO which allows Indirect lighitng to be combined with AO.

4K textures doesn't prove anything and i had 2K installed which is fine.
DoF is ♥♥♥♥. Unrealistic and good only for screens.
I didn't had AO toggled or maybe i had dunno i simply doesn't see much of a change to justify use of this effect.
My current ENB doesn't give me sharpening and still game looks great and it creat amazing lore friendly mood.

Your screens are silly it's like saying that woman with tone of makeup is better than woman with lite makeup. Just stupid. Your first screen was ♥♥♥♥ just a puddle of gray and blur and it was nowhere near being good and i am not even comparing it to my skyrim.

I will take this moody skyrim look over any of your overblured over sharpened and overmoded with hellokitty character stuff...
