Unable to play with Windows defender on?
If i want to play SSE vanilla (or modded, same bug) i have to disable my AV (in my case i only have Win Defender, nothing else). If i don't, i am unable to load a save (or even save in game) and, sometimes, not even able to load the game itself. What i do wrong????? ( i don't have SKSE because i can't use it, being unable to open my game in full screen with it, so no mod for me like SkyUi or any other good mods.

Is your game installed in the Program Files directory?

Or even worse on the desktop.

Do not install Steam or any games on C:\ drive. Windows' UAC has problems with people actually using their computers for anything other than Microsoft apps.

In addition to the above: we're talking about Windows defender that's the default on Windows 10? Because if you're having issues then I'm pretty sure it's not because of your AV; I'm also using that on my Win10 setup and never had any issues with Skyrim.

perhaps you should check windows security/virus&threat protection/ransomeware protection/controlled folder access
if on add exceptions for steam/game launcher/game
then saves/loads should work

windows 10 comes with security turned ON. up to YOU to check these things. game installers do NOT turn the security settings off.

Thank everybody but:
-All my games from Steam are in a specific directory (and not the desktop of course!) outside of any program files ;
-I use another drive for all my games (a ssd ) and not the C:\ drive where i have Windows 10;
-Skyrim SE is the only game doing that (but i had the same problem with the first Skyrim except that i was able to use SKSE and SkyUI in full screen BUT always after having disable my AV!).

Thank but i already did add an exception for all my Steam games and one more for Skyrim SE just in case and, no luck for me!

Upgrade your AV to Avast. It will ask you once each time a game is run. Allow it once and it never bothers you again.

You were right, it was in the windows security for the fu****** ransonware. I had to allow Skyrim to have access to C:\user\documents\my games\SkyrimSE and..."voila", it's working. THANK you cheshrim !!:steamhappy:

Your document folder is protected and Skyrim need access to the saves.
It is one old issue that did come when W10 did came.

One method is if user of MO2 (and assumably vortex supports this) is have it redirect the save and or INI location. Its possible to have 99% of the mod setup excluding ENB and base portion of SKSE all contained away from Windows and the game itself.

If you a separate antivirus program, turn defender off. It is the malware section in it causing the issue. Had this myself a month or so ago.
