A Daedra's Best Friend Bug
So I have found Barbas, went to the cave, cleared it and went to the statue and got my mission. After that I needed to go to another cave to clear that one out and retrive a axe. Everything from that point worked like it usually do. But when I tried to go to the statue of Clavicus Vile, then I keep getting "Aaaah, you have my axe! and my dog! Spelnded!" but I cannot click further then keep repeating that same phrase.

So is there a fix to this bug?

It sounds as though you did that quest out-of-order and messed it up.

You should: Get Barbas, go see Clavicus Vile, get sent to get the axe, return to CV, quest completed.

Clavicus Vile will say the above as you approach the statue. You will need to initiate dialogue to continue. The location on the statue to allow dialogue is small and not very intuitive. Stand before the statue and pass your cursor across the statue starting at the top. Somewhere near the middle to lower section a text should appear allowing you to initiate dialogue and continue the quest.

Note: The issue you describe is indicated in the bug section at:

Keep in mind, both Skyrim wiki's will offer extra information the other may not have. It is best to review both.

I'd strongly advise doing what the other two just mentioned first, in fact use every method you can think of to fix it BEFORE trying what I am about to suggest. A make a hard save beforehand, because this could make things worse.

You could try removing the axe from your inventory with console commands "player.removeitem <axe id> 1" then after progressing the dialogue with clavicus, put it back into your inventory "player.additem <axe id> 1". Again, do everything else that might possibly work before this, because this might not work, in fact it could make things worse.

Did you have the dog following you when you talked to the statue?
I had sometimes troubles if the dog wasn't close to me while talking to the statue.

Also, probably not the solution, but you can really only continue the conversation when he has finished saying his lines.

Try your first two suggestions. Of course you'll have to go back to a save from before you initially started the quest. Console commands should be a last resort.

I agree Vlad, especially if the OP is going for Oblivion Walker. Messing with console commands on a Daedric quest could impact completion toward the achievement.

Reload the autosave when you walked into Haemar's Shame. If that doesn't work, reload earlier to when you collected the Rueful Axe at Rimerock Burrow; or when you entered the Burrow and defeated Sebatian Lort.

As Dead mentioned, make sure Barbas is with you. When conversing with a Daedra, you cannot skip dialogue. It must play out completely. (Sucks when conversing with Meridia or Hermaeus Mora).

Ooh yeah, Hermaeus Mora and Meridia both love to talk a lot. Real wind-bags. It's painful. I found out when I skipped dialogue on Meridia ending that instead of slowing lowering you to the ground, it autosaves at beginning of conversation and repeatedly drops you to your death. You basically get stuck dropping to your death over and over again.

Still happening in 2024. I opened the dialogue then read these comments and when I came back to the game it fixed itself. So you can try ro open the dialogue and wait a few minutes
