And yet people think that "frequent sales" means its popular in light of the fact that buying CC credits counts as "Buying creation club" as far as steam is concerned. It never ceases to amuse.

That quote is from a journo at nme. Their official blog article I just linked doesn't mention anything about the anniversary edition being free, only a free enhanced version and three pieces of the creation club. In fact it specifically mentions that there will be an option to purchase it.
"Existing owners of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition and Xbox Game Pass subscribers will also receive the option to purchase an Anniversary Edition upgrade for their Special Edition version of the game to gain access to all the additional content found in the Anniversary Edition."
Is it a native PS5 application or a PS4 BC update of the SSE? Bethesda haven’t explained these updates very well.
Good question. I don't own a console so I'm not sure how they handle these upgrades, but considering that the enhanced version is specifically mentioned for the consoles I'd assume it's a native application and not a bc+ update for those platforms.
I would actually pay NOT to get the update (or any update ever again). I have 10-15 bucks for a Leave me the #($* alone DLC.
