Try changing the difficulty setting and/or sneaking.
Sounds like a noob problem. Have you upgraded your weapons and armor? How about your health, have you been neglecting putting points into it? What is your difficulty set at?
I also mingle with melee, Bound Weapons are available and I have begun to notice plenty of Glass/Ebony stuff dropping, so later on as a warrior there should not be problems.
My advice is to do some Daedra quests. You get some solid weapons so you could catch up in the arms race with your foes.
and your combat skills. One-Handed, Two-Handed, Destruction, etc.
If you are using heavy armor .....
and there is no massive difficulty spike, skyrim only gets easier as you level up. are you using mods...?
Honestly I feel no need for crafting at this stage. Doing quests, rewards and some good old fashioned adventuring netted me tons of stuff. I reached 100k gold just by selling stuff and saving the money from quests.
The thing is that what you need is the core stuff for your class first and foremost. As a Mage you need the right perks and Adept-Expert level spells (which can be found easily on Seekers in Apocrypha for free). As a rogue you have awesome stuff if you follow the DB/TG questlines which should keep you topped. As a warrior, whilst I was doing the Companions quest, I find that levelling the Werewolf is the better option at lower levels, since you can ragdoll the enemies with power attack (whilst you need the higher level Block to do this normally).
As I have said, failing all, get yourself some Daedric artifacts from the Daedra quests. The Ebony Blade is a great option for a warrior, Dawnbreaker is optimal for clearing the crypts of the various Draugr Deathlords that begin to pop at lv 30.
All in all, play the class, invest in the right perks and focus on your primary role first and foremost.
Skyrim lterally drowns you in stuff if you actively adventure so profit from it.
I have the best weapons and armour I can buy.
I'm not into "builds" and all that nonsense, I level as I like.
I have focused a little on stealth, but mostly on one-handed and magic, conjuring and destruction mostly.
Until 3 or so hours ago I was having no problem at all. Well, not NO problem, it was just about right.
Now suddenly it's like I can't do any damage.
And yes, I "upgraded" my weapons and armour. But now every time I try to upgrade them it says I don't have the skills to upgrade this weapon, or I don't have the skill to upgrade magical items.
Since I haven't focused on levelling my smithing, I will never unlock those perks, so it's kind of pointless being an "open world RPG" if I can't RP the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ G, right? I mean if I have no choice but to level smithing as much as possible in order to keep up with the imbalance in the game.
