Beware of the Drain Vitality Bug

I want to warn players that the drain vitality bug is still in game. So be sure to learn all words of marked for death before learning the word in Dimhollow crypt.

Sadly I came across the first word of marked for death several hours after learning the word in Dimhollow crypt, and the saves in that place were quicksaves.

I was kinda hoping Bethesda had fixed this but if they are planning to release patches maybe it will be fixed.

Anyway don't make the same silly mistake I did if you want all of the words of drain vitality. It's nothing game breaking, but incase someone that's new to Skyrim or simply isn't aware of the bug I thought it could be a good idea to inform them.

I vaguely remember this. Wikia says something about waiting before you have all words of Marked for Death to install Dawnguard. Well I already have Dawnguard installed, so can it even be avoided at this point?

Never heard of this, not in 20k+ saves have I seen any issues with words of power. Guess it just means I won't be affected by it in SE either :D

This is fixed by Unofficial Patch. The real question is why arn't you using the Unofficial Patch?

Indeed. I'm suprised many people don't know about the USSEP / USLEEP or whatever the acronyms are. This is a must have for people not wanting mods even. In almost every uesp.net page there is something being fixed by the unofficial patches...Holy batman I think the bugs fixed now touches the thousands...

Seems the issue is that you'll just have a weird extra shout.

When I come across Drain Vitality on a word wall, I do not use any souls to activate it. I leave it dark .. differing to Marked for Death instead.
Drain Vitality should have NEVER been put in the game.

Yeah, it is actually a pretty terrible shout. Guess I might take your advice and avoid it altogether.

Marked for Death on the other hand is great.

im really late to this but the unofficial patch worked once then after learning a few new shouts the greybeards gave me the same arcwind shout quest and the patch did nothing
