No way to move into Hearthfire house without a bedroom?
I know this has been asked numerous times before but my case is still unresolved. As most people say, it is not needed to build a bedroom wing in order to have wife and children move in with you. So I have a fully decorated Heljarchen Hall (except arcane enchanter in the main hall since I have the tower for it, some altairs in the cellar and I never built those animal decorations). Which means that I have the two single-beds upstairs, with a chest at the side, and a wardrobe and everything needed.

I married Miuri and adopted two kids (Sofie and Lucia). They're now in Solitude, my only house with a free bedroom. However the option to move to my own house never comes up with Miuri. I even slept in there for 12 hours two times and once even 24 hours, after removing all workbenches and a drafting table. Also restarted the game afterwards. However I still cannot move in with her.

Any more tips? Do I need to sleep there even more or what's the problem? I use Hearthfire Extended but I doubt that would case any trouble, it should be compatible with this case.

Afaik you definitely need a dedicated bedroom for the children, and the only way to do that is the dedicated wing.

The beds upstairs are for the houscarl and optional guests (like the bard).

Yes, as ShelLuser said, the bedroom add-on is required for children to live there. The two beds upstairs are for your housecarl, steward and sometimes guests will use one.

I would recommend you leave the family in Solitude. It is the safest home and anywhere else besides Whiterun, the spouse will complain.

Damnit... I'm striving for a perfect completitionist playthrough but I'm already way beyond the save where I started constructing the enchanter's tower. I started building each house with a different combination (to have all rooms exactly once) but it just takes so much time that I decided to stick with Heljarchen as it's my favourite. Now with the tons of goods sorted in my storage and cellar it would be a major pain to move, besides I really need the storage extension which is only there.

If it was possible to "safely" destroy and rebuild only the one wing, I would probably do so. Also I wonder how some people managed to move their spouse and children in without the bedroom addition, as they claim.

A simple search will show you that no, you do not need to build the bedroom addition to have children in a Hearthfire home. Simply building the two single beds and the dresser in between them is enough to satisfy their needs and let you move them in.

Do you have anyone else living in the home already? A steward, bard, whatever? Because if you do, then you will need the bedroom addition to have enough free beds.

I've also seen that the items added by Hearthfire Extended won't count toward meeting the requirements, and you have to build the default objects in the correct rooms. By other comments I've read, it also seems like the mod removes the ability to use those upstairs beds for kids, and requires the bedroom addition.

Dedicated beds for the children plus a chest for them to store their possessions, this is the minimum for the children to move into any house, including the ones in the cities.

I used the upstairs beds for the kids before with no problem.

The housecarl will use one only if both are not filled by kids.

I just found this and it seems to have worked for a few people although I myself have never tried it (never needed to).

I got it! To anyone having the same issue, go into your data folder and then into scripts then delete the three BYOHrelationshipacoption .pex files then also into source and delete the same .psc files. On launch, your game will regenerate those files CLEAN through the .bsa that comes with the game. I read this from another comment someone made but I figure id share it here since this is on page one. I assume PNP left over some stuff after I removed it. I have only tested right now with one child but that is so much better than how it was yesterday at 5am. Endorsed my friend!

I'm having this problem now. I built Windstad without a bedroom wing, and I cannot move my kids there. They're stuck in Whiterun. My spouse, Aela, can still be moved though.

Is there a bug where you cannot move kids if you built 1 Hearthfire house without the bedroom wing? I remember having the option to move the kids to Solitude, my other fully upgraded house, before I started working on Windstad, but never moved them. Now, the option to move the kids are just gone from the dialogue.

Do you have a children's bedroom at any of your houses?

They need dedicated children's beds and a chest for them to store their belongings, in normal houses this is a children's bedroom, and in hearthfire houses is a bedroom wing....
CC houses have children's beds.

The Solitude house is fully upgraded. For Windstad Manor, I already built all beds and containers, but sadly no bedroom wing. Still can't move them to Solitude, though.

You could try the resetAI command on your children.

Do you have more than 2 kids?

Tried this, didn't work. Still no option to move.

Only 2, and that's the maximum right?

Mods allow you to adopt more.

Dang, I was hoping there's a way without mods. Why would Skyrim provide so many orphans, but we can only adopt 2? At least some of them could be taken care of by my housecarls, rather than roaming the streets selling stuff.
