If you wished for it, maybe you could've taken a minute of your day to type "skyrim SE mod list" in the search engine of your choice.
First of all, Skyrim is not a pain to mod but only and only after you READ EVERYTHING on desired mod page.
Second of all, programs and utilities such as MO2, Loot, Tes5Edit will not MAGICALLY make your game work, you press two buttons and it is done. NO! It does not work like that.
Holy moly I got triggered, quarantine is taking its toll...
and no, I am not fun at parties
bye
And guess what, there are pinned guides and threads on these very forums on how to mod. or even Google.
Modding requires a lot of reading and common sense, if you got those star qualities, then you will be fine, if not, then play vanilla:P
For people who are used to games where modding is even more complicated, and with no tools like Skyrim has, it's amazingly easy.
Not sure if there is a middle ground, but I'm guessing those people find it awkward but doable
One thing I am sure of........ I have forgotten what point I was trying to make!!!!
Getting started again can be tiring and a pain, what with deciding on the mods, getting all the prerequesite mods, checking for conflicts, figuring out the proper load order to not have things break - and occasionally needing to load up mods in the creation kit and then immediately saving and quitting just to fix "Form 43 plugin error".
I actually didn't even bother with the "Cleaning the mods" stage because I couldn't find up-to-date instructions. (I'm not using all that many anyway.)
Also for reference, The ES and FO series are among the easiest to mod games out there right now. For a game this size anyway.
BGS games can get complex to mod. Cfs111 has a stable modding guide for SSE, which lives constantly forward. He is the author known for stable mod lists for Skyrim and they are public. Using his guides does require getting more comfortable with terms and tools, but I assure you: it is worth it.
If you have pulled through MO2's learning curve (MO2 is my own preferred mod manager for BGS games) then you should be able to pull off tools settings for it easily.
You can always ask help from community. There are few grumpy trolls around, but most people are always happy to help.
If it's the easiest game to mod you've come across, then you haven't come across many games.
