Use the map.
Run around until you find a wooden bridge and a lever, pull the lever and the bridge will fall down, letting you get to the exit on the other side. I was also lost the first time exploring the ratway. The map won't help you find it though, since it is part of a room you have already explored.

If you don't wonna do that, you can type TCL in console which turns off/on collision and you can just kinda "fly" to the exist door. Just type the command again to toggle it off.

There's always a way... either back track to the way you came or.. if you exit the flaggon and can't find the level (seems unlikely) you could always jump down which lands you in the main chamber from where you can reach the exit again.

Do you mean the bit leading to the Thieves Guild Tavern (referred to as bothe "The Ragged Flagon" and "The cistern")? Or the bit after that where you go looking for Esbern? (Ratway warrens)

For the First, leave the Ragged flagon, and take the righthand exit at the far end, there is a bridge (you lower it the first time with a lever), and the exit is at the end of the tunnel (don't drop down again)

For the second just go the other way, it's a one way system, just don't drop down anywhere.

on the way in going to the flagon, i did drop down. i didnt see the lever for the bridge.
This reminds me of a friend of mine that always got lost in MMO's. We where playing Dark Age of Camelot and there is instances you can do for EXP that is called "long corridors" and they are just one way caverns basicly, no sideways, no hidden stuff, just one road and you can not divert from the path. She always got lost in them...

It's on the other side, you pull it after you've been all the way around, most go inside the Flagon first.

If you haven't been there yet, you just need to keep going forward, it's a simple loop.
i did lower the bridge after my rollback.

It is though... You got some immediate dead end cells, a locked area you can't access until you progress the story, the Thieves Guild (who also tell you how to get out), and then the bridge with the lever directly next to it. It is a simple circle.
In theory if you use clairvoyance it should guide you out, as long as all your selected quests take place outside the Ratway.
