Vampires in Whiterun
So far, the Vampire visitors to Whiterun have killed:

Severio Pelagia
Belethor
Amren
Adrianne Avenicci

Pretty soon, the town's going to be non-functional. They generally attack when I'm not there - so I just find the bodies.

Adrienne died and I was so sad. Then Nazeem died so that was ok. I do hope they tone it down a bit. I don't want to mod my stuff because I want all achievements but it is starting to get brutal. Heck I had to reset riverwood when Camilla and Lucan died.
you know you can resurrect every character in like 5 seconds?

I didn't even know that

If you don't want to use mods then save often and don't enter a city at night. These attacks only happen if you are nearby (inside the city). Dragon and cultist attacks can also kill npcs and are less easy to predict so again save often.

I have encountered vampire attacks during broad daylight in Solitude and Markarth. My vanilla game has these attacks disabled and I have When Vampires Attack added to SSE.

I love Skyrim. Equally, I think the random vampire attacks was something that would have benefitted from a little thinking through of the consequences. A strategy based upon using trainers can be derailed by events over which the player has very little, if any, control. Key trainers at risk in cities include Silda, Amren, Balimund and Grelke. Allowing their untimely demise is not very sensible imho.

Don't shop at night. I learned this in M&B. :P

Good thing I still don't have this sword or the guards, citizens and all would die from friendly fire.

As suggested, saving a lot helps, too.
I haven't tried the mod I suggested prior on this game but supposedly it works.

Otherwise, I limit my Whiterun shopping until Dawnguard is done and since this time I'm a vampire....I usually go to citieis I care less about or seem less problematic.

Having a good game, somehow I still have my original cow (for 30 levels)at level 40.
Been able to react faster on SE. Expert Conjuration helps too.

Mods that increase spawn rates also has higher chances those npcs will die.

`console resurrect -point at npc id

Fallout 4 someone must have thought it funny to add bandits outside one of the camps for the cabot quest by the riverside every npc is dead before you see them.

I know what you mean man, That guy in whiterun who I helped get his fathers sword, we were bros. But I came out of the alchemy shop and a Vamp Lord killed him. I ran over there, but I was too late, I did decapitate the Vampire Lord. When I checked his body, he had his father's sword on him. I immediately felt sadness.

I knelt down next to him and whispered to myself, "We will meet again in Sovngarde my brother."
Then I dropped some mountain flowers I had just bought on his body.
I took the sword and put it in my Breeze House.

When I returned to Whiterun after a few quests, a courier gave me a note from the Jarl saying he had left me some coin in his dying Will... I felt sad and honored at the same time.

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Skyrim is a good game.

Excuse me, I have something in my eye...

One time i was helping a guard fight the vampires and hit him by accident. He was at low health and it killed him instantly. I finished off the vampires and I didn't notice that i had a bounty and was attacked by whiterun's guards. I forgot to save so i had no other option but to slaughter all of whiterun.

Just go to the Castle Volkihar, find their assface leader and rip him apart. Oh, whait. This is bethesda game we are talking about. Wellp, mods will fix it. It is unplayable without USSEP anyway. And there is a patch that allows you to play with mods and still get achievments.

The attacks don't end after the Dawnguard quest is completed?

You can mod it so that you can earn achievements with mods.
