How do you separate inventory items from the things you want, from things you sell?
This question is more for those of you who have many hours into this game like I do. After legendary, several times over, most produce goods example, potions, smithed items etc, I am so over stocked I can find it very confuseing. I have hundreds and hundreds of potions and smithing items and find myself accidently selling a potion or armor/weapon I do not want to sell. My miscellaneous inventory is way to overwhelming.

My question is, have any of you found ways to deal with this? Let me make clear this is not a weight carrying question. At level 81 I can carry lots of weight. This is a question about how to deal with over stocked inventory so you can sell your goods easier without making any mistakes. Thank you for your time.

Simple, I don't carry that much.

I just favorite everything I plan on keeping in skyui. Every time I meet a merchant its sell everything that doesn't have a favorite icon.

Its just makes it easier to sift through and sell stuff.

Pretty much this. Don't have 1500 potions on you, then you won't have to sift through 1500 potions to find the ones you want to sell.

In most games I play, I only have like a carry limit of 50. So I never had that problem :D

This is a serious question folks. I know I can carry less and all that. I am looking for constructive answers. I was hoping not to bog you down with over explaining my question but seeing how I might have no choice, I can turn it into a thesis. Selling is how I make my money, etc., etc., etc.

Yea there is a point in the game where you need to haul loot for income. Without high carry capacity I am always maxed out and visiting merchants. The constant struggle is tedious, Hence the favorite method to cut down on the sifting.

Depends how you play I guess.

Yeah, and that's the solution. Stop carrying around so much ♥♥♥♥. Just sell more often. Simplest solution is usually the best to aim for. Money is so common in the game it's not like you need to pick up everything to scrape together enough gold to sleep in an inn. Or even to sleep in an inn at all.

Just because the answer isn't one you may like, doesn't mean it isn't the right answer. I have a mod called trash bucket - https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/41776 (can be installed directly into SSE as it is just an .esp and a single small script). Whenever I get too much on me, I discard stuff - and it doesn't matter what the value is or that I MIGHT need it some time later.

One thing you learn when you've played this game for a while and have a lot of experience, is that money is the easiest thing to come by, and most things you think you may need, you really don't. If you really need something to carry junk around (and be realistic about it and not use a follower), get a horse mod and use their inventory for the purpose.

Not to mention that there's more money to be made with armor and such than potions I think. I base that on the high amounts of potions, if you need to sell that much then I think you're really better off selling more expensive stuff such as armor and jewelry.

Each to their own of course, but I never sell potions. I keep them stored in a chest so that I have something to go back to whenever I need it. But money otoh shouldn't be much of a problem in this game. Grab the armor of all your enemies (as far as it's possible) and divide the spoils between you and your follower(s?), then be careful with what you sell.

I recently stumbled upon the follower mod and I love it; allows you to have more than one follower. I now have three, including 'Sofia' (don't ask) and so far they're doing a great job. Recently I had to kill a bandit leader which I remembered as being extremely strong. Well, he was no match for my 3 followers ;)

And 3 followers also means 3 times more storage space :)

(edit): which is what I'd suggest: before a sale run dump everything you want to keep on either a follower or store it in a chest, then sell your stuff, problem solved.

It's really incredibly simple, I pay attention.

I know what I want to keep, so when I'm selling stuff I simple don't sell the stuff I want. I can look at my inventory and see whether an item is enchanted, and if it's an enchantment I want to learn. I know which items I'm using, I know which potions I'm going to need, which ores have one too many pieces to process into ingots, etc.

It's then quite a simple matter to not sell the stuff I want.

PS. Not being patronising, but it's incredibly hard to describe a simple matter of evaluating stuff without sounding condescending.

For armour and weapons, I favorite what I use. I have I think just the regular SkyUI favorite menu, so I use that the group and equip most items.

I also have legacy of the Dragonborn, and I regularly take advantage of sorting inventoried to drop off stuff I don't need, and restock on stuff that I do.

Stuff I use but don't need on my person I usually keep on my horse.

But even without mods, I regularly sell anything that I intend to sell, and store things I want to keep but don't need on me in a player home.

I don't impromptu sell anymore. I equip a specific loadout, weapons, x amount of potions, etc. When I want to sell, I put all my loadout gear into a container, then sort out ingredients, foods, ores, etc., that I want to keep, into their respective containers. Then I put on something from my sales pile and go see the merchant, so I can sell everything I have, without accidents.

there are mods that add containers that you carry around with, i.e. the lustmord vampire armor has such an item, if you got 1-2 such items you can use them for sorting purposes i guess (also they tend to be unlimited in terms of carry weight which i find kinda cheaty but... ehh selfrestraint can fix that :P)

whats unrealistic about having another human follow you around like a dog at your beck and call lifting 300lb of loot around while still admiring your like the second coming.....

oh....
wait....

i see....
i guess when the top level was built, no more could be place huehuehue it was and is the maximum apex....

kidding aside i wonder why skyui doesnt have a "junk" tab so you could mark stuff as junk to discard it whenever your run out of carry weight, but i guess its a fringe case where you would need it so...
smr1957 Feb 8, 2019 @ 5:22pm
That junk tab would be a good idea - and with an auto sell or dispose for anything in it as an option
