Difference between Legendary Edition vs. Special Edition
What is the difference between the 2? If I am going to buy one which should I buy?

Legendary Edition:
-32bit engine so it's less stable
-More mods
-Script Extender is complete and stable

Special Edition
-64 bit engine so it's more stable
-Less mods
-Better Graphics
-Paid mods
-Script Extender needs improvement

Buy Legendary Edition for the mods.

The legendary edition is the original version of the game but with all the dlc (basically the GOTY edition). The special edition with next gen version mainly made for PS4, XBONE and Switch, it comes with all the dlc as well but also has improved graphics (lighting, water, shadows etc, etc).

Overall the SE is the better looking version but due to it being more recent there are less mods for it, though most of the better mods have been ported to the SE.

Disagree. Buy SE. Mostly for stability. But the major mods for LE already exist for SE. Most of what you want is probably already there. SSESE is in alpha, it will become more stable.

Mods from Oldrim can be ported to SSE. Mods from SSE are not backwards compatable at all.

I say go for SSE. Most good mods are already working on SSE anyways.

SE is way more stable.

Survival Mode is also totally worth the few bucks.

Se is going to improve. Also more stable for mods.

I agree with your first statement, but not the next.
Yes, SSE is more stable. And as others have pointed out, the mods for SSE are mostly there. The few big ones that were popular in Oldrim that haven't been ported to SSE are on their way either by the original authors or other mod authors who got permission/used original permissions to port them to SSE.
As far as Survival Mode? Bleh. Get Frostfall + Hunterborn + Campfire and you'll get a much better experience than Bethesda's lame attempt at cold weather survival.
And they're free on Nexus.

You can run SE on mostly high settings, with a few medium ones with a GTX 660, 8gb RAM, and a quad core 3.4ghz cpu...I should know....before I upgraded thats what I ran with....

I legit used a 660 2gb until the 1K series cards came out...tank of a card.

But also a potato.

Anyway, you dont need a SpaceX super computer to run SE. It can infact run fairly well on a potato, minus godrays...shadows...well...minus any of the actual fluffy visual bits they added in for SE lol...

But lets face it, most people got it for free, and most people were more excited for the prospect of a 64bit platform, and not the new gfx bits added...as ENBs did that for Oldrim....even in 2011....

Since SKSE is out for SSE now there's no point in buying Oldrim anymore cause SSE is both cheaper and more stable. That said if you have a graphics card with 2gb of Vram or less You might want to get Oldrim cause in my experience it uses less video memory.

To each their own. I don't mind spending a few bucks for curated mods that work, allow achievements, and don't make the game unstable.

I definitely had a blast using mods in Legendary as it was super easy, literally just click and run.

Everything you but the achievements is debatable for Creation Club mods, honestly. There were quite a few of them that crashed the game. Also I don't know if it's fixed yet but for people that live in the UK or outside of America quite a few of them can't play unless they go in offline mode because it crashes.

I agree Survival Mode is one of the few things worth buying but we can't ignore the fact that there are free mods that do the same thing, arguably much better for absolutely free. In this light its really hard to justify the $7.99 pricetag. Maybe for PS4 users its worth getting (or if you don't want to mod your game to get achievements on pc.)

The rest of the Creation Club is total crap. At least its slightly less terrible than Fallout 4 that is plagued with skins and useless dogs that break script extender every month.

Get the original + DLC for mods. Get SE if you don't care about mods or want the Creation Club content (although I don't know why anyone would.)

You can buy the original here.
