Why do you guys play as female characters?
I get it if you're a girl, but I've recently realized I've never chosen a female character, always a mighty male hero.

eh i dont know either but i play a male player on SWL and a female on skyrim and fallout 4 with the occasional male in fallout here and there but never very long with fallout out as i really cant "connect" so to speak with the character as i can with a female sinice i always had more female friends growing up then i did male so i just see it as playing as something i am more confortable around and can somewhat connect with on a game or in RL

Simple...why not play as a female character?
and in SWL i play it with my gf but only on my male and not my 2 other female worker drones
well there is that answer to cause there is normally a good answer but that works just as well

When given the choice, I prefer to play as characters I find attractive. Especially if there is a third person perspective.

Why do you play a dude, dood?
dood you around dood dood!

I play characters, not genders. Characters that have points and stories and are different from one another. One of the differences could be gender, but gender isn't the point, the character as a whole is the point. In TES, my first playthrough is Bosmer Male, thiefly type. In Skyrim, I've played a 7½' male Nord Werewolf/Wildmage druid type, a female Nord barbarian type, a female Breton paladin type, a male Breton pure mage, a male Altmer vampire/necromancer, a male Khajit Merchant unarmed thief warrior type, a female Imperial warrior mage type, a female Bosmer ranger type, and some others I don't recall offhand.

Well the blessing of dibella gives extra damage to opposite sex and most soldiers/bandits etc. are male so there's a reason if you need one... For me it's just that I make many characters so it's a chance of pace.

I tend to play archetypal characters and to choose their gender accordingly. Currently I'm playing as a male Orc tank; in my next playthrough I plan to start a female Illusionist/Conjurer who will refrain from direct violence as much as possible, and resort to followers and minions to get the dirty job done. Of course I could go the other way round, but I find in this kind of games stereotypes help with immersion.

Why not? I'm a dude and I usually play males, but fairly often play females (probably a 70/30 split or so). It depends on what kind of character I have in my head. If it feels like a female would fit that character better for whatever reason, I roll a female. It's easier to make a huge, jacked Orc or Nord or whatever as a male just because of the model on max weight vs a female model on max weight. Sometimes I just make up some names and think, "That name sounds like a chick (or a dude)" and choose the gender based on that.

It also depends on what armor/clothes/robes I'm planning to wear: I find female animations are worse in heavy armor with their elbows clipping into it when they move, f. ex. I usually play females in Light Armor or Robes and males in Heavy, Light, or clothes (like an unarmed brawler just in tavern clothes, which a female in a dress doesn't look as smooth in).

I love it how Silent Protagonist tries to pretend he has a GF or a life :)

Why? Because we CAN! That's why.

I just play what I like at the moment of character creation.

As a male, i prefer looking at female butts. :tgrin:

I just like to play with a character that I can look at .. Like not get bored etc .. If the male meshes look better in a game then I play male and vice versa
