Never got the Special Edition for free
Following ''Problem'' I have Skyrim since.. idk 2015? Just never rly touched it. However I read that owners of the original Game get the Special Edition for free. Today I finally wanted to give the Game a shot and well. I have the ''Vanilla'' Skyrim but not the Special Edition, even tho every page claims it was given for free. Any Idea?

Probably the wrong version. It wasn't just about the original version but the legendary version I think.

Did you have all three dlc for classic Skyrim? Because you needed to have them and not just the base game.

The Legendary version is the same thing as the old version, it just included all 3 DLCs.

It's this, you needed all 3 DLCs before... Oct? 2016.

When they upgrade a game you normally have to own all dlc to get the upgrade

I never owned the legendary edition; I just had all the expansions, and I DID get this game for free. Though I didn't install it until years later since the PC I had at the time probably couldn't have run it anyway.
I have the Legendary Version, yes.

Did you have it before the Special Edition released in October 2016? It's not retroactive.

Skyrim Special Edition was available for free for a LIMITED period to anyone who had the original skyrim AND all 3 DLC's at the time of release.

If the free copy was not claimed during that period then that person, unfortunately, has to buy the special edition

Well claiming isn't the right word it automatically appeared in your STEAM game library If you got the original AND all dlc. It also don't matter if installed you just had to own it.

if OP could verify that he had own the game AND all DLC prior to the release date of SSE he could try either the bethesda or steam support

I think Steam support has the most chance.
I do have Skyrim plus DLC's since 2015 or smt. But alright, will try to contact the support.

Yes, if you owned Skyrim and all the DLC it was supposed to be automatically added to your library. However, there were hiccups, with some people having to contact steam because it hadn't appeared in their libraries.

As others have stated the only options are to contact either Steam or Bethesda, and hope there wasn't a cutoff point for it.
Alright, will do
