My troll ran away?
My troll randomly disapeared on me. I know the guy warns you about them running off to the wild but I didn't think they'd do that unless you told them to "Get lost".

Like any follower, if they are told to wait and left too long, they'll run off to the wild. And due to it being skyrim, occasionally they'll just... disappear. Not even be removed from your follower slot. Just poof.

Not sure if this helps...but I think it may be that the poor thing buggered off due to aits lower level than the thing you were fighting. Here are some fun facts abnout armored trolls just in case.

It is possible to acquire an armored troll if the Dragonborn is aligned with the Volkihar Vampires. However, to do so requires a high level illusion spell, such as Harmony or dual cast Pacify. The quest Destroying the Dawnguard must be active. Enter Fort Dawnguard and cast either spell. If the spell is powerful enough, the Dawnguard members will not be hostile and will, moreover, allow conversation and bartering. Once pacified, Gunmar will allow purchase, even with Serana as a follower. This method will also allow the purchase of crossbows bolts and spell tomes, normally available only to members of the Dawnguard.

When fighting against a wild Troll, it may roar at Dragonborn's armored troll; if its level is low enough, the pet may flee and hide until the fight ends.

The Dragonborn's adopted child can potentially receive an Armored Troll as a pet. (note this may not be true...or it may actually be a glitch...

One can kill all trolls in the troll pen then buy a troll from Gunmar and one will still come out of the pen to meet the Dragonborn, regardless of the fact that they have killed them all.

All trolls in the pen can be killed without being noticed.

Unlike what Gunmar says, armored trolls are friendly around any NPC that isn't hostile towards the Dragonborn.

Well TBH, they're not really all that bright to begin with. Were there any creatures around that could've scared it off? Mind you (and I really can't believe I'm saying this just because it's a forum) it could've been a low level troll (lol sorry, can't help by kinda laugh at that). Seriously though I've had that when I had randomly gotten a lvl 1 troll...and I never used one since. It could've been intimidated by pretty much any hostile actor towards you.

Sorry, slightly off topic:
I was going to try and verify the pet thing before I got sidetracked and forgot :-3

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
