Sorry I originaly started this discussion in the general section when I intended for it to be in the suggestions. https://steamcommunity.com/app/489630/discussions/0/1760230157505994438/

Yes they get Valkyries but those are late game and it's the only tranport they get.

Also the Chimera tranport is iconic for the IG it seems weird for them not to have Chimeras.

As much as I would like to see Chimeras in the game, I think adding them kinda goes against what the Astra Militarum's infantry are designed for. They are desgined really just to hold static postions to defend your territory rather than being used offensively. For offensives, you have Leman Russ tanks and Hydras, both of which you can get relatively early in the game. And by the time you are at a point in the game where you really do need to move infantry around quickly, you have Valkyries, so Chimeras would just be redundant at that point.

In short, I guess my main point is that the Astra Militarum, as they currently are in the game, really don't need Chimeras.

Instead of Chimeras, I would much rather see Guardsmen and Heavy Weapons Squads get some sort of entrenching ability that would give them the defensive benefits of being in a forest or ruins, even when on open terrain. Either that, or make the Imperial Bastion a garrisonable unit to increase its damage output.

I know this is an old topic and the Chimera is available in one of the MANY DLCs this game has. But has anyone else found this; despite the fact I don't own any of the DLCs, if I start a game with tier 1 research unlocked, I have access to the Chimera. If I start with no research unlocked, I don't get it.
