idk. i bought the game a couple years ago, played for a bit, came back and bought the race packs. i was checking out the unit packs and realized i have seen these units before and loaded up a save and... there they are.
is there a different edition of the game or something that came with DLC? maybe i have that.
I can't recall if buying a DLC makes new units/techs available in old saves.
On the steam page there's the complete edition which comes with all the DLCs, but I kinda doubt that it would make it so whichever DLCs aren't out at the time when someone buys it would automatically be activated for them.
nope. i just started a game from scratch and was able to get both hiveguard and venomthorpes. i didnt have any old saves from a few years ago. im gonna try out the other factions to see if i have their units but i definitely have the tyranid units for some reason.
EDIT: i just checked the space marines and it appears i dont have any of the dlc units. its only for tyranids for sum reason. space marine units from the venomthorpe pack for instance aren't in my game, but i can get ventomhorpes as tyranids. maybe tyranids dlc units are free now?
units: depending on what the host has, no need for client to own them.
I figured out at some point what was triggering it, but my memory of that time it is pretty vague so I'm kind of guessing at to what it was. It may have been that disabling any one of the dlc I owned in the setup screen (for multiplayer games only) enables all the ones I don't own. I think I tend to disable the Lord of Skulls dlc, which would explain why it happens to me so consistently.
