@baracus: Wagons?
I'm no expert with Orks I might add but I usually never build those wagons. I did before I noticed the Gorkanaut is also a transport. But part from being a transport with the "run as far as you can when disembark" these Wagons didn't do much else and were destroyed quite fast. The Killa Kans and Deff Dreads are the core of my army, backed up with Meks for repairs, some Dakkajets and a few Gorkanauts for good measure. Some Boyz are also there as fodder for overwatch. The Dakkajets usually dies very fast so I'm not sure if they're worth it.
Early game and if I have time I build the Warbuggies too because they can take a punch.
and meks for fighting? not happening, they die fast.
flashgits and Meganoobs are the inf to go, and nothing beats the squigofant as atransport. and yeah, tons of dakajets....
Ya can cram three meganobs in a battlewagon! That'z ridin' in style!! Or six bosses.
Eventually, have weirdboys teleporting squiggoths & gorkanauts. But the wagons do the job for most of the game.
Things I noticed. You can not rush for Boss on every start. You have to play depending on what resources are abundant. The game I'm in now I was surrounded by food and no tech tiles so I went infantry into burnas first which clears neutrals really well. Then boss, then fast expand at normal time. Fast 3rd too.
So meks arnt as good against light infantry like the pox guys. They are good against armored enemies for a long time tho, good for killing cities, they can fight the umbras, and robots/vehicles. They do good damage against Baneblades for such a low tier units. I think rushing boss into mek swarms is good when you dont have alot of food and you are following up with vehicles. Leftover meks can repair vehicles and get kills against armored units.
They are good if you get them early, and are still mass-able when pressed for resources. I think the primary functions is mobility like you mentioned, plus they are good at saving wounded units. The shock gun also makes them decent anti air if you don't have jets or mek guns.
The meks do get one shotted by everything past early game so they become kind of a last hit unit or guaranteed to die. They just get you out of the early game if your pressed for food. I think wagons are good before you get the economy to support the big stuff.
Good luck with your Mission Impossible!
