PSA For Ork players: Meks OP
Got into this game recently, mostly play orks. About to finish first game on ultra hard(no quest, standard settings). I've never seen anyone mention this in discussions but Meks do absurd damage to EVERYTHING.

First game on ultra I did the standard rush boss, rush 2nd expansion. After you send your first Mek to settle your only choice of basic infantry is Meks as you don't have the pile or cult yet. So I just massed them. They kill all neutrals, even umbra, even robots. Robots cant 1 shot them in cover either. They are so busted I skipped tank bustas, flash gits, made 1 scrapjet and went straight for wagons. I knocked over the first AI city with heroes backed by wagons and meks.

They are squishy obviously and take damage every time they attack, but backed by a pain boy this is manageable. Once they have dok implants they get really nuts even against early vehicles. They shoot flyers. They are also cheap. Also, its nice being able to attack an enemy city surrounded by wire weed with no issues.

TLDR: Meks OP

Nice, I haven't messed with orks yet, but I will definitely keep this in mind.

Mind the Waagh!!!

@baracus: Wagons?
I'm no expert with Orks I might add but I usually never build those wagons. I did before I noticed the Gorkanaut is also a transport. But part from being a transport with the "run as far as you can when disembark" these Wagons didn't do much else and were destroyed quite fast. The Killa Kans and Deff Dreads are the core of my army, backed up with Meks for repairs, some Dakkajets and a few Gorkanauts for good measure. Some Boyz are also there as fodder for overwatch. The Dakkajets usually dies very fast so I'm not sure if they're worth it.
Early game and if I have time I build the Warbuggies too because they can take a punch.

the waggons can be gimmicky when you research the catcher to hold enemy vehicles, beside that they are a waste of research time, no matter that they can get alot of researchable benefits, as long you not really pressed for this 6 Transport slots.
and meks for fighting? not happening, they die fast.
flashgits and Meganoobs are the inf to go, and nothing beats the squigofant as atransport. and yeah, tons of dakajets....

Ya can cram three meganobs in a battlewagon! That'z ridin' in style!! Or six bosses.

Eventually, have weirdboys teleporting squiggoths & gorkanauts. But the wagons do the job for most of the game.

Currently working on beating impossible on all normal settings except for landmass/water amount because that can handicap a random player/AI. No quest either. First attempt was 4 way free for all, which I basically turned the corner against the AI near me however.... The other 2 AI's ended their war early so this caused me to get tag teamed by 2 impossible AI around turn 100. Trying a 1v1 right now and the AI is sending everything at my furthest city- holding for now.

Things I noticed. You can not rush for Boss on every start. You have to play depending on what resources are abundant. The game I'm in now I was surrounded by food and no tech tiles so I went infantry into burnas first which clears neutrals really well. Then boss, then fast expand at normal time. Fast 3rd too.

So meks arnt as good against light infantry like the pox guys. They are good against armored enemies for a long time tho, good for killing cities, they can fight the umbras, and robots/vehicles. They do good damage against Baneblades for such a low tier units. I think rushing boss into mek swarms is good when you dont have alot of food and you are following up with vehicles. Leftover meks can repair vehicles and get kills against armored units.

They are good if you get them early, and are still mass-able when pressed for resources. I think the primary functions is mobility like you mentioned, plus they are good at saving wounded units. The shock gun also makes them decent anti air if you don't have jets or mek guns.

The meks do get one shotted by everything past early game so they become kind of a last hit unit or guaranteed to die. They just get you out of the early game if your pressed for food. I think wagons are good before you get the economy to support the big stuff.

This make sense. I'll keep that in mind next time I play the Orks.
Good luck with your Mission Impossible!
