Death Guard
So this is how i think Death Guard should work in Gladius.

1. Death guard should be spreading slowly and inexorably like a disease. There city's should not have a tile limit instead they should acquire tiles more slowly, you should be able to set a waypoint on any city tile and your unit should spawn at the waypoint from that city so you should be incentived to stretch your city towards your chosen enemy city. Creating a slowing moving front line. Perhaps they could build defensive nodes every so often to give a sort of turtle play style that slowly expands the turtle so to speak.

2. Toughest infantry around, Death guard are a heavy infantry focused army. backed by long range artillery and bloatdroans for scouting. Enemy's adjacent to deathguard should get a ten turn debuff(blight) causing them to take 17% more damage. And additional debuffs added through technology like reducing moment by one or upgrading the blight to effect vehicles.

3 Hero's, lord of contagion, plague sorcerer, lord of virulence, and demon prince of Nurgle.
lord of contagion a melee beat stick that summons zombies, plague scorer should be able to heal and debuff, lord of virulence should buff infantry and vehicles ranged attacks.
Demon prince of Nurgle should be a one at a time unit (same as Saint Celestine) make it a unit only attainable by killing a certain number of units effected by blight and then upgrading a hero into the more powerful demon prince.

I think this would be a fun and interesting take on a faction, would be fun to have a race where the city takes a more active roll in the battles. units should be slow but like deases ever creeping towards you.

Anyways what do you think? If they add death guard how would you like to see them implemented?

If they add another race you would prefer how would you make them interesting and stand out? Whats a type of play style that would fit into gladius that hasent been explored yet?

That is a reaally cool concept! As long as the game engine can handle endless cities ... Defensive nodes ... around outposts like Space Marines? The AI should be able to handle that. Plague Gardens or something like that? Possibly spawning infected 'zombies' with a limited lifespan like drones (probably an interesting way of handling 'zombie' units for this faction in general)?
I like infantry focussed armies, so that's a bonus, too! :)

These are cool ideas.

When I was thinking about what the faction would be like, I also thought they they should have terrain alterations abilities like the nids. Except make it actually work. I was thinking of something like plague towers that spawn swarms and slowly alter the terrain around them. Look into 5th chapters of my iron hands campaign for example.

I think the Death Guard would be a good and interesting faction. They have a unique look and play style.

Thanks guys.

@grotzel; i had not thought of engine limitations so ya this may not be possible, still i hope it is i would love to see a few more races added to gladius.

@dexgattaca; I agree death guard could be a unique play style and look good.
