Tips for the Drukhari hero, Succubus
I posted this as a reply in another thread, and since i already wrote it once, i thought it would be nice to make its own thread to allow more people to read it in case they have trouble using her in game.

The Drukhari are a lightweight hit-and-run faction, they are not supposed to have big fat tanky and powerful units that can go toe-to-toe with Scorpions, Baneblades, and Imperial Knights....

Still, while the Succubus hero is tricky to use, is by far my favorite of the 3. I used her to great effect until now and she can be an offensive beast! Some tips:

1) Giving her armor items is not a bad idea, but her base armor is 2, meaning that if you give her both armor items she will reach armor 5, and 6 with the research. That gives 50% damage reduction, assuming 0 armor penetration, which is rare. Most units remove large parts of this damage reduction, even with items, making them useless. Since she is also a risk-reward hero that is likely to die here and there, armor items are not that great of an investment on her.

2) Instead, give her the item that makes her ignore overwatch. It is slightly more expensive that those 2 (120 vs 160 influence) and will make her much more survivable, since you will be saving much more potential damage with it. Assuming nice situational awareness and positioning, doing hit and run with that item on means that many times she won't get hit at all. Dead stuff don't fight back.

3) For protection, rely on no feel pain bonuses, stack them up. At level 3 she gets +17% like all Drukhari units. With the T2 research, combat drugs (which you should spam on her on cooldown) give her another +33%, for a total of +50%, very early in the game. And +50% feel no pain resistance is the equivalent of 6 armor, but with all enemies having 0 armor penetration.... It gets even better if you have a Haemongulus hero next to her for up to +25% feel no pain resistance, or a Cronus for a +17% if you are lvl 3+. She can easily reach the maximum of 83% feel no pain resistance, and that is the equivalent of 10 armor with enemies having 0 armor penertation, so i would say she can be extremely tanky.... And the +33% protection against melee attacks is just gravy...

4) Of course, give her the +3 hp item as well, it is huge on her, give her the +1 movement item too if you can afford it for maximum mobility

5) Most of the items should be offensive. Dusk blade, a MUST HAVE. She also needs the axe that gives extra attacks vs multiple models, and of course the blade that improves melee damage and penetration. She will be extremely powerful in melee on anything she can hit, and self heal constantly. Unless the enemy has fliers and/or massive units, they will have a hard time containing her.

6) She is not supposed to overstay her welcome and/or solo enemy armies. After you hit, use her extreme mobility to get her out of trouble. And always try to use cover in your favor. At T6 combat drugs give her move through cover, which makes her even more mobile in rough terrain, so don't be afraid to use her inside dense forests and ruins.

7) Her main ability should be her passive boost aura to melee damage (brides of death). Not only it boosts her own melee damage, it boosts the melee damage of units next to her, so always have some melee units next to her to attack alongside her. Wyches in the early game, Hellions later (they use melee weaponry too). And of course Incubi in the end game, as well as Wracks and Cronuses, gain greatly from her. +50% on melee damage at lvl 3 is no joke.

Great tips, Templar.

Dusk blade is useless to a faction with 2 units that can heal. And the ignore overwatch it not needed when using transports with jynx to absorve enemy overwatch and deploy her in cover to the front.

Gladius DEldar Heroes dont need the extra movement equipment, they already can run much more tiles than any other faction (what makes me wonder why DEldar can run more tiles than CEldar, when all have a base movement of 6" in TT.... )

No it is not. Succubus is more mobile than the healers, and the nature of her rushing melee playstyle means that you will often have to be outside their reach for some time. She deals lots of melee damage so life steal on her can replenish her health more often, making it far harder to put her down without immense firepower. And even if heals ARE available, healing on her own means you can save the heals for another unit....

As for ignoring overwatch, i do not suggest using transports with her, especially in the early game. She is very mobile on her own, especially when gaining move through cover trait on the drugs at T6 and the +1 movement item, you don't need to ferry her around. Wasting time researching transports and their buffs and resources and time manufacturing them, is a bad choice when you can just rush to the drugs research and get the units that use drugs + pure combat vehicles instead.

Not to mention that ignoring overwatch with her can make using her ultimate ability very easy. She can deal insane amount of melee damage to everyone around her, so you move up to a large group and press the button. If you don't ignore overwatch, you might not even make it there. If you do, they won't know what hit them....

Since Succubus is a melee and less tanky hero than most combat heroes, she needs the mobility to either get in good position to use her abilities and attack, or to move out of trouble. That +1 movement can make all the difference. People really underestimate how important +1 movement can be on all heroes and units.

They haven't had a base movement of 6" since 7th edition, both normal and dark eldar went to 7" in 8th edition and now in 10th Dark Eldar got increased to 8"
